I agree with the guys. It's hard to suggest something since there are many things to consider. I would suggest that if you are going to a gym to get with some of the trainers and come up with a program for you and go from there.

Mikee, nice new pic. I don't have ANY equipment at home. I have heard that it is pretty pricey to outfit a home gym. Good luck finding the right stuff. BTW, I do like a cable machine. I hope you find one cheap.

Welcome Deb,
You have the right idea. You are so right. Women can be buff and feminine So many people wait till after the surgery to start a program. Good Luck

My advice is to eat plenty of protein!!!. Building muscle requires lots of it. Also start off slow. Lastly, just stick with it. It will take some time to build muscle, but the wait is well worth it. Good Luck.

Getting back into working out and I love it. I was really suprised how much my strength has gone down, but can't wait to see results. My Dr. just started letting get back into working out. My surgury was on June 21st so I do feel like I am doing well in that aspect. Any suggestions as to a nice begining work out. Hope you all are doing well.

Welcome!!! I agree with Stayce. Start walking now and get in the swing of exercise and you'll find that everytrhing will go much easier.

Glad you are joining us Deb. Great you are thinking about exercise already.
No time like the present to start and studies show that it helps with recovery. Even just getting into a consistent routine of walking is great. What are you doing now for exercise?
Hiring a personal trainer is a great way to stay motivated, on track, and get a customized program that works for your goals and needs. Maybe even consider giving yourself that gift prior to surgery and you will be a step ahead of the game.

I am still a pre-op for 49days or so and am hoping that once I am cleared with my PCP that I'll be able to get in the kind of shape that you are in. That is my goal even though I am a woman, I believe that it is possible for me to be buff and still feminine (sp). I was just talking with my hubby today that it would be nice to get buff and hopefully not have to have so much plastic surgery if any at all. I have around 240 pounds to loose here though. So, what ever advice ya'll can give, I'd greatly appreciate it. Feel free to look at my profile, not a problem. I do plan on hireing a personal trainer once I am cleared so that I have the guidance I need each and every time I need it. Ya'll have a great night.
