I'm quite taken with The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde.
Ffinally, a ffine ffantasy ffeaturing a ffunny ffemale detective, Thursday Next. A terrible character, Acheron Hades, is stealing characters from England's cherished literary heritage and holding them for ransom.
Great easy read!
