Topic: Where have you camped this summer?
Hi all you campers!
I have been on many camping weekends this summer, Boulder Woods, Hickory Run State Park, Scrubbie Pines (NJ). I even went to Camp Rodney (on the Chesapeak Bay) with my 2 sons Scout Troop for a week of summer camp. Sons and I have on last camping trip planned for September, don't know where yet, but we will have fun.
Where have you camped or gone to this summer. Talk to me!

Topic: RE: camping recipes anyone?
Can you take a crock pot to cook in? I have taken stuff like chili already prepared ahead of time in a cooler then heated it up during the day in the crockpot. I also make Brunswick Stew the same way (not sure if folks other than southerners know about Brunswick Stew or not). The other alternative is taking lunch meat, cheese stuff like that that you can keep in a cooler. Have fun. I LOVE to camp, but we haven't been in a while.

we camp nearly every weekend...but we rough it....sleep in tents, no portapotties...LOL anyway I take the isopure liquid drinks, lunch meat...roll it up no bread, beef jerky, nuts. We cook on a propane coleman stove so I take Lipton sides...either the chicken in rice, or chicken noodle with broccoli and add a can of white chicken meat. You only have to add water so easy to cook...since both have like a sauce after you cook it I then add unflavored protein powder to boost the protein. We also fish while we camp so if we catch anything...then we cook up what we catch.

Topic: RE: Crazy question!
We camp just about once a month to every other weekend. I am in the same boat as
yall. The one thing that I did was make the campfire pies. I used a pie filling sweetened with splenda and used splenda powder sugar. I still only ate half of one but it was really good. If anyone finds anything new let me know. I just stay with a staples of everyday. Yogurt, cheese sticks lots of water. I found a boneless skinless
chicken thigh(not so dry) and that was really good. There is no way I can do any kind of hot dog but hamburgers and fruit are great.

Hi Claudette I know what you mean but I can't come up with anything either. The only thing I have done is make the campfire pies with a cherry filling that is made with
splenda and I found splenda powder sugar, but I still only ate about half the pie. We camp just about every other weekend and I still find myself resorting to my protein shake at the end of the day because I haven't eaten enough protein. We now stay so busy camping with riding bikes and walking. We hardly ever just sit around any more.
But if you come up with any new ones, let me know.

Topic: RE: Crazy question!
i'm going camping in two days, and i still don't know what i'm packing. we always used to eat very well (grilled chicken and steak) when we went camping pre-op, and i can still eat those foods post-op, so it looks like that's what we'll be eating. i'm taking a protein bar or two, some light cheese sticks, and some eggs. egg salad? possibly... and of course lots and lots of water! ~liz
Topic: camping recipes anyone?
Does anyone have any good recipes which are camping friendly. Now that I'm post op I am trying to alter my food intake with things other than your typical hamburgers and hot dogs.
Thanks
Claudette

I wish I could help. I am in the same situation. I am a week out and wanting to camp soon. I was just going to wait untill I can handle solid food. I hope someone can help. ~Shea
Topic: Crazy question!
Just wondering what everyone eats when they are camping? We are having our first camping trip of the year and my first one since my surgery (3 1/2 wks ago). I feel awesome but I am affraid of how I am going to eat....I can't really do burgers and chips or hot dogs.
Any thoughts?
