I just have to know if there is anyone out there like me. I got the band in may of 07. Did ok, a lot of pbing but I tolerated it. Well last Monday I had to have it removed, The doctor says my body was rejecting it. I ended up the ER in another state while on vacation. Severe GERD, vomitting, blood in my vomit. Not able to drink or eat a thing. At times including my own spit. The upper gi showed the band in perfect placement, I had nothing in the band and still could not eat. Terrible acid, could not lay down to sleep. Anyways, I had it removed last week. He said there was a little scar tissue and some inflammation.
I should be happy I got it out and am recovering so well but I am pissed off it did not work for me. I was a self pay because I did not think I would be covered under insurance. I am now a size 12 but with the appetite back with full force I fear what weight will come back. I was so miserable that the doctor did not want to do any revision at the time of removal.
I am just wondering if anyone else had these issues?

I am glad to see you visited the LapBand board. You will see you're not alone.
Sometimes applying heat to the diaphragm area can help the pain subside. I used a ho****er bottle, heating pad or heat patch.
If the pain was in your stomach area, I would be willing to bet that you had a gas buildup. It can cause tremendous pain... more than I ever would have thought possible before having the band.
Some people have a really hard time tolerating the lapband. If your symptoms worsen or you start having chronic pain, you might want to consider talking to your surgeon about a revision. Good luck. I hope your pain problems are over and done!
ps. Check out the lapband board, if you haven't already. Someone else has posted a question about constant left shoulder pain.
I get this weird left shoulder pain though went I eat. it's weird. I think it's when I'm full...sort of like an indicator to stop. I've always had it, but now I need to monitor it more.
I hope it's subsided by now. Depending on where the pain is located, it could be gas buildup.
