Topic: RE: Low Blood Sugar Post RNY or Lap
before surgery i was always running in the upper 100's now I am averaging around 75-93. I thought i was having low glucose until I went and had ac1 done and my average in that was 5.5. What I did find out was my iron was low and that caused me to have symptoms of having low sugar
being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it

Topic: RE: Anyone with a Gastric Fistula?
I was just diagnosed with an ulcer & a fistula. I agree. There's not much info out there.  Were you able to find out anything?  I'm 2 1/2 years out.

Topic: RE: Unexplained Pain on Left Side
Hi,

I had shard pain on my left side & it turned out to be an ulcer that I developed almost 2 years after surgery. Still being treated for it. The only way to make the pain go away was to constantly eat little bits. I carried a jar of peanut butter around with me so I could take little bites before I was diagnosed.  Now I'm on liquid Carafate & Prevacid capsules & even though the ulcer is still there I have no pain.

Good luck!

Topic: Ulcer & now a Fistula
Hi,

I had RNY 2 1/2 years ago Jan. 2, 2007). November of 2008 I had an EGD & it was discovered that I had a marginal ulcer. I had a follow up EGD this past week, and after 6 months of liquid Carafate 3 times a day and 30mg Prevacid capsules 2 times a day, I still have an ulcer, but through the EGD also discovered that a fistula has formed. I have no pain & feel just fine. I do smoke a pack of cigarettes a day. My surgeon told me to stop smoking, which I'm attempting to do. He wants to do another EGD in another 2 months.  I can't see there being any change in the ulcer or fistula if there hasn't been any improvement in the past 6 months.  Any ideas, suggestions, comments, experiences to share with me? After searching this site, there seems to be experiences of either an ulcer or a fistula but not a combination of the two.  My surgeon did mention something about removing my unused stomach & reconstructing my pouch where the intestine is attached (anasrimosis). Anybody else out there with this issue?

Topic: RE: Low Blood Sugar Post RNY or Lap
I've been diabetic for the past 8 years so my lower blood sugars since surgery are thrilling me and I hope I can keep them down.  I've been off medication since I came home from the hospital and I find out next week if I can stay off the meds permanently.  If you feel ok, BS of 80 is great!

So my Question is has anyone had Low Blood Sugar since having surgery? I have sugars that ranger now from 70-80 with all this pre surgery protein, even my higest is like 126 which is great. But curiouse if low BS has been an issue for any one? and what helps you raise it up?

Thanks Laurie

That is for the pain management doctor to determine.

As far as the ticker, I just put mine up recently and I am not sure how  to update it.

Thanks I will look into that 1st thing on tuesday.  How do the pain management Dr determine what you need? I am miserable right now.

On another note, can you tell me how I update my ticker? I have lost plent of weight and I don't know how to change it.

Thanks in advance
