Topic: RE: Pain in abdomen, chest area....
Hello.  I thought I was alone in this and perhaps being somewhat of a chronic complainer? I have been experiencing the exact same symptoms. The pain in the belly button region and up towards my breast bone does become unbearable.  I have been to the ER, I have been told it was Gas.  After addressing that, the pain persists, BACK to the ER and nothing significant is found.  I have h-pylori, but am told by my GI doc that it does not cause severe pain as I have described.  I had surgery about 5 - 6 years ago and have lost about 150 lbs.  I have also had my gall bladder removed and have a small hernia.   This also should not be causing problems? I am scheduling an appointment with my Surgeon asap.  Its kinda scary.  THe pain is intense and has caused me to not be able to work and function normally around the house.  Please keep me updated with any and all diagnosis and all relief methods. Thanks!

I saw my surgeon on 10/28 and scheduled exploratory lap procedure for 11/13.  My doc thinks it is either an internal hernia or possibly scar tissue.  I just hope it gets resolved! Best of luck to you!

Okay tomorrow is Nov. 2008, I had my surgery 09/30/06.....My pain described above started in May of 08.  Always starts on Friday afternoon (I am 6 hours from my doctor) and is much better by Monday...(((GO FIGURE, RIGHT?))))

After about 5 episodes like this, I finally broke down and came up to my doctors (all six hours worth) had another EDG yesterday, today they told me it's probably an internal hernia and they will be doing the exploratory lap procedure either Nov. 11th or Nov. 14th.

The pain was un-bearable, but I am HOURS from any Emergency care, and twice even went to see my childhood pediatrician, but I am 40 years old now....THey did not know WHAT to do w/ me in a hundred mile radius, since RNY is soooooo puzzling to them.

Wish me well, I will come back and update you guys when I get back...probably around turkey day.

Topic: RE: Anyone with remnant stomach issues?

OK, yesterday I had one of those 'attacks'!!  It feels like my remnant is spasming.  I don't have hardly any drainage either.  I can't figure out what is going on.

My DH suggested putting some Carafate into the tube and see if that would calm it down.  I did that for a while any way.  Well, guess what??  It helped considerably.  I plan to put it in there regularly today also.

I have no idea why it is still acting up.........another thing to chalk up to the saga.  I just got up so I don't know yet how I feel today!!

Topic: RE: Anyone with remnant stomach issues?
I had another severe attack of pain yesterday but now it is all right sided under my rib and behind my breastbone....I would swear I was having a heart attack but know that it is GI related.  I thought I was going to have to go back to the ER but finally the pain subsided after about 4 hours of rolling around on the floor trying to find any position that would relieve it.  I still wonder if there is something related to my gall bladder that is causing all of the bile issues.  I still have mine but ultrasound showed no stones.  I have read here on the board you can have a non functioning GB that can give you as much distress.  I am grasping at straws here to try to find a solution so I can feel better and return to work.  I checked back in with my doc (God I hate to bother her but I am no better and have been out of work 8 weeks now) and she is thinking about either a HIDA scan or MRCP to check the functioning of the gall bladder/pancreas.  Next time I see her in person I will mention I have found a fellow sufferer if she wants to chat with your doc.  It is GREAT news that you don't have a lot of bile drainage....that means it is draining the correct way at least.  I am praying that you feel better each day and have found an answer.

You would be alot better off to post this question on the lap band forum.  I am sure that they can help you more than this board.

Please stay diligent with your Dr.'s, I know what you mean about them passing you by and not doing anything to help you.

I am sure my Dr. would talk with your Dr., you might want to suggest that.

I don't have my gallbladder, that came out 6 months after my RNY surgery.

I am still having pain, but I can't tell yet where it is coming from.  Just overall belly pain from surgery yet.  I was at the Dr. yesterday, my liver biopsy was NOT perfect.  Some abnormal cell changes, they think it is due to inflammation from so much bile in my system.

I am not getting much drainage right now at all so I am hoping that the re-do of the JJ site is going to help my problem.

Hope you get something going on soon that will help you.

Topic: Help Reversal
Okay, so I have a lot of complications from the surgery (way too many to go into on a message without it beign a book) but the main thing is severe gastroparesis that has caused me to need a feeding tube to support nutrition permanently. So now to the problem. I had my yearly appt with my surgeon and he is thinking it is time to seriously consider reversing my RNY and maybe going to lap band or restricted anastomosis (really hard to explain but I would go lap band). He is worried that by just reversing the surgery, I would gain weight and so he would liek to consider a lap band cause then we can fill and defill it as needed. I have severe nausea that causes me to throw up daily and he is hoping by putting my stuff back together, it might reduce the nausea and therefore the throwing up. He is afraid if I continue down this path, I will not have an esophagus left as my teeth are already going to hell from it. He hopes that by putting the stomach back and the intestine I could absorb more easily because I would have the 5 feet of intestine back and with the lap band he could leave the stomach a little bigger therefore helping to eleviate my nausea or at least reduce it. Now for what I was told as statistics. I have a 65% chance of this actually doing any good and a 15 % chance of it completely curing the problem. I am afraid to do this big of a surgery and have it do nothing!!!!!! I am scarred to have the reversal. So what I need from you. Any advice at all from anyone who has had a reversal and anyone who had a lap band cause I don't know as much about that one. Also, I don't know if the odds are worth it or not. I know, no esophogus bad, but I just don't know if there is a better answer out there and it just has not been found yet. Anything would be great, I am just at a lost and a little scarred (okay ALOT scared). Thanks
