Bookworm -- anyone have hints?

Does anyone have any hints on how to get higher scores? I know the basic ones, like getting longer words, using letters with higher value. But I see that there are people with high scores that are HUGE! How are they doing that? Also, is there a way that you can save a game at a certain point, keep playing the game you're on until it's over, and then be able to pick up the game you saved at the point it was at? That way you wouldn't always have to start at 0.
