Hi Yall... I'm curious what everyone has to say about going on a cruise post-op. How do you manage? Are you able to enjoy the cruise as much? Besides being more active doing the activities, the mainstay of the 1 cruise I was on was food and I was wondering how everyone copes with that?? Chipymunk Disney Cruise for Honeymoon.. Planning a return in '06 post-op

Hi gyuy! My hubby and I both had surgery last year and went on a cruise in February. Carnival was wonderful to us. They removed our water glasses automatically after the first night. They also were very gracious when we explained what we could and couldn't eat. We ordered off all of the menus. We always took the stairs and ate ice cream under the stars every night. We lost weight and didn't gain. We were able to dance and be weigh more active than ever before. We are planning another cruise on the Carnival Legend in February of 2006 and are really looking forward to it. Hope you enjoy yourself as much as we did!

I am glad to hear what a wonderful time you both had. I was wondering though why did they take your water glasses? I too am going on the Carnival Legend but in Jan. this will be my 5th cruise with Carnival...what route are you taking?

We asked them to take them away as we do not drink a 1/2 hour before, during our meal or 1/2 hour after our meals. This way the food stays in our pouch and we get all of the protien and nutruition absorbsion that we can. We also stay full much longer between meals thus avoiding the need to graze. This is what our doctor recommended and I must say it works.

Chip. I had WLS in March, and went on a cruise in July. I had no problems what so ever. I actually have a great time, so much so that i'm going again in March 2006. There is so much food and such a variety that I had NO problems at all. Cathi
