Hi Sharon!
My DH and I are going on a cruise January 6th round trip to Hawaii out of Los Angeles. I'm a little nervous because my surgery date is October 12th and has already been pushed ahead once. Luckily, we're cruising with people we met on Cruisemates.com and I won't feel uncomfortable with my eating situation. I'll be too busy chatting away!
I used to live in Diamond Springs and went to Ponderosa High School (a million years ago) in fact, I was in the second graduating class.
I imagine that Placerville has changed since I was there last. It's been about 15 years.
It's nice to see you posting!

Topic: RE: RC Mariner of the Seas
Hi MaryKaye,
I live near Port Canaveral and went on Mariner this past Jan 05. It was by far the best cruise I've been on. This was my third and all the cruises have been out of Port Canaveral. First cruise was RCCL Splendor of the Seas 4 days to Bahamas, then Carnival - Fantasy 4 day to Bahamas and then 7 days to East Carr. on Mariner. I really like RCCL line. The staff is great. We had a problem with our dinner table mates and they fixed us up with sitting with some other people on a different floor so we wouldn't even have to see the other people who made our first evening horrible.
I loved the gym and spa and spent two days by the pool. The water in the pool was ice cold. Seas were a little rough at times, but no seasickness for me. This was pre-surgery.
I am planning on going again in 2006 to the West Carr on Mariner. I loved this ship. So much artwork and great food and met some incredible new friends. Hope you find your trip great. The best prices are during the Sept - Dec months due to hurricane season. It may be stromy in some area, but the ships go far enough away to keep from having too much trouble with them. However, if you are leaving this week, you may have some problems with the current storm near cape canaveral.
Best of luck to you,
Lori Cullember
Topic: So Excited!! But gets seasick.
My hubby and I are finally going on a cruise October 3rd out of Jacksonville, FL. We are so excited I can hardly wait! The last time I went on a cruise was 15 years ago and I got very seasick.
I am determined to keep it under control this time. Anyone have any updated suggestions or remedies? I had the Scope patch that last time but the sea was so rough it didn't matter. Dramamine was being handed out like candy and that seemed to help a little but I couldn't see anything up close. LOL Im hoping the weather will cooperate this time. I know its still hurricane season so Im keeping my fingers crossed.
