I am already a cruise junkie!
Even though I am waiting for surgery - no date set yet - I am going on my 10th or 11th cruise from Vancouver to Los Angeles via Skagway and Juneau, Alaska next month. As I usually cruise alone, this is the best way for me to take a vacation. I am flying first class to Seattle - too big to sit in the cheap seats. Next year at the same time, I will fly to Copenhagen to do a 26 day cruise through the Balkans and back to New York via London, Iceland, etc. All this depends on whether I can have the surgery - there is no way I can fly that far as big as I am now.
Last year, I flew from LA to Santiago, Chile to do a 14-day cruise around the Horn of South America - the cruise was wonderful but the flight was so bad that I ended up standing half the way as I couldn't fit into the seat and was in agony. I had to keep popping Tylenol to tolerate the flight home. Horrid. And three years ago, I flew from LA to Sydney, Australia to do another 2 week cruise - again the cruise was wonderful, but the flights both ways were the worst - and I wasn't as big then as I am now.
Wish I could be satisfied with just taking cruises out of LA to Mexico or Alaska or where ever, but I am curious as to what life is like on the other side of the world. And there is no better way of travelling than cruising especially for single older ladies. When you get hooked, you never recover. I try to do two cruises a year - one short and one longer one.
Enjoy.

I had WLS in March, and went on a cruise in July. I had no problems what so ever. I actually have a great time, so much so that i'm going again in March 2006. There is so much food and such a variety that I had NO problems at all.

Hi Karen,
You're right, this is one addiction I don't want help with. LOL March 2006 will be my 3rd cruise and I can't wait. Thank god I only live 7hrs from New Orleans.
I'm already surfing to pick my next one after the march 06 cruise. LOL
I wished I was going on the WLS cruise too, but I can't.
Have a great time!

I am sure I am a cruise junkie too. Where do we go for help??.. no wait - I don't want help with this..
I am going on the By-Pass Buddies Annual WLS cruise and conference in September and I can't wait. It is an itinerary I have done before but I expect it to be so much better with a loss to date of 95 lbs. I had my surgery on Feb 22/05.
This will be my 5th cruise, two of which have been the Caribbean. Last fall I took a biggie - a 16 day cruise of Asia with Princess. It was really amazing and all I can say is when you take a longer cruise you get to relax and to take what the ship has to offer. On a 7 day you feel you don't want to miss a thing. It was a smaller ship with only 1200 passengers and you get a chance to get to know some of the crew and the passengers. The other cruise was of the Hawaiian islands with Norwegian and taking in Fanning Island. The waters were so beautiful and I was there in Feb when the Humpback whales are visiting and they are amazing!
This time I am even looking forward to the flight from Toronto to New Orleans. The last flight I took was from Bangkok to Toronto and it was horrible. I am sure it was horrible for the poor man next to me also.
Happy Cruising.

Hi Jack!
Well, let me be the first to go ahead and welcome you to the losing side!!!
WELCOME!!! I will be 5mos post op on Aug. 10. I'm down 65lbs, I'm 31 from my goal, 41 from the drs.....I've only sailed Carnival, but have been VERY satisfied with them. They have always been good to me and my family. Last year we went on the 7day western Carib. (Montego Bay, Grand Caymen and Cozumel). This summer was 4 days to Cozumel. NExt march is 5 day to Costa Maya & Cozumel. Might take one later this fall, just don't know as of yet. Hubby wants to do Alaska, so I'm sure that will be forth coming. I'm 41, and hubby is 43.
I wish you well on your surgery, drop me an email and let me know how it goes. ([email protected])

Topic: RE: RC Mariner of the Seas
We have sailed on hte Mariner 2 times, December 02 and Jan 04. The first time the ship wass only three weeks old. Your going to have a great time. This is a wonderful ship. The most important thing to remember about cruising is you only get out of it what you put in it. Get involved and have fun.
