ANY SUGGESTIONS? When I started my WLS journey, my A1-C was 12.9 My surgeon demanded that it be below 9 and sent me to a Diabetic Treatment Center and follow their treatment. Their treatment was to go to classes and follow up in 3 months. When I went back, my A1-C was 8.4. It is possible to lower it. I was having 500 to 600 blood sugars and lowered them before surgery. Red blood cells rejuvenate every 3 months and that is usually how long it takes to get a good re check but.... I would do away with all sodas, juices and limit milks. Lay off alot of the carbs, potatoes, peas, corn, breads and pastas. I was limited to 30 grams of carbs a meal and that was plenty. Before surgery and in the hospital for my surgery, I was on insulin, about 1000 units a day. I am now 6 weeks post op and have not had any insulin since I came home. My blood sugars are running any where from 120-180 and it is amazing. I hope this helps and good luck. If you have questions, feel free to message me!
thanks to you for your advice & encouragement! i will keep you posted. we have upped my meds...if nothing else they will just postpone surgery for a month....i have waited this long, one more month wont hurt...plus it gives me time to make sure my sugars are in control! so today i am feeling much more positive.....
