Hi all! I'm Susie from Alabama (Heart of Dixie), and I've been dispatching for a whole whopping month and a half. I really like it so far. I'm married to the last American Gentleman (and my best friend), and have been for 13 years. We have an 11 y/o son, 5 y/o daughter, and 15 m/o son. I look forward to meeting you all! : )

Welcome to the board Susie and welcome to dispatching as well! So do you work 911 then? I'm Dina, 38, married to my wonderful husband Jack for 12 years and we have a 3 year old son, Mason. I've been working here at the state police for 13 years at the end of this month. Prior to that I spent a couple years at a little police dept doing 911. So where are you in your wls journey? Still checking it out? Dina

Thanks for the welcome! : ) LOL--well, I do some of everything. This is a small town. I am responsible for dispatching officers, fire dept., ambulances, I manage the jail, I answer the police phone lines and 911 as well. Yes, still checking the wls out. A lady here in town died after having surgery, so I'm a bit nervous about it. Susie! : )

Hi Susie...I am originally from Alabama..born in Tuscaloosa but I was raised in Illinois and bought my first house in Wi about 6 months ago. I am 24 years old..not married...no kids...but I have been in dispatching with the same responsibilities as yourself for about 2 1/2 years and I also enjoy it a lot. Get ready for an interesting ride in the dispatching world. It is fun and a day in the life of a dispatcher is far from ordinary and it is never the same day to day. Enjoy!!! By the way..I am also a pre op but I have done so much research on the surgery and I am not nervous about the procedure. You have to educate yourself on it before doing it. It is not for everyone. But the RNY has no more complications than any other surgery out there. The only difference is, this is elective and that is why most people think it is crazy to do. As long as you follow doctor's orders and do your walking and breathing excercises immediately following surgery...you will be fine. Most common occurances is people die from blood clots which can be prevented by walking to get circulation going and also pnuemonia (SP?) which is prevented by using your breathing machine and coughing immedialely following surgery. Co-morbities...if you have any can also play a roll in it ....but most of them are cured after the surgery from significant weight loss. Again, do your research and find out if it is right for youl. Feel free to write me just to chat at [email protected]..... Good luck !!! Jannette
