Well, the appointment went ok. The Dr isn't really convinced of gastric bypass for me, because I'm barely 35bmi, and he wants me to see his partner and then the 2 of them consult. He said it's not really black or white on his perspective of my situation, but gray. LOL I do appreciate his honesty though. He did say if they decided right now not to do the gastric bypass, that he could get me into LA Weight loss Or Metabolic Research center and give it a try, and keep visiting my family doctor for weigh ins, and use that again in a few months to try. We are not really sure bc/bs will use my weigh****chers right now, because I've not been weighing in with my doctor every month. Boy the hoops bc/bs is making patients jump thru to get treatment!! Our co pay is going up with the city I work with AGAIN!! They slipped that one by us, and now MORE is being taken out of our checks for family coverage!! I'm really getting sick of it myself. No dang wonder my blood pressure is staying up. Work for city and pay them to work there basically!! LOL Anyway, enough fussing! I do have an appointment to go to the Metabolic Research Center tomorrow morning. My husband & I decided to go ahead and get that started since it may be a few months before I could get approved, if I get approved. This is one more thing I haven't tried. I know 2 people who have done really well with it. One woman has maintained a 95lb loss with Metabolic Research. So, who knows. Sherri

Sherri, You have to keep us posted.. do you have an appt with the Dr's partner? Or are you just going to try the Metabolic Research center? I don't see why ins companies make everything so difficult when apply for the surgery, the long term resutls if we don't get the surgery are higher! Good Luck.. Brianna

I have not scheduled an appointment with his Partner. The nurse and the other Dr were going to look over my file and call me. So, I just feel like right now, to show I've tried something else after talking with them, that I'll go ahead and get started at the metabolic research center. I intend on giving it my all, and if it doesn't work, going thru with RNY or Lapband one. Even if it's on my own dime. Sherri

Wow - that is really aggrivating Sherri! I still say that people need to start shrinking. It's pretty easy to do...slump! Most people fudge their height the other way - heck, maybe you'd be at a high enough bmi if you really were measured for your real height, huh? Good luck on getting this done. Keep pushing and don't take no for an answer. What are they going to do, deny you again? Dina

I wi**** would work!! I have always been 5'2, but then at the Dr's appointment a few weeks ago he told me I was 5'1 when they measured me. So, that's why I went forward with the appt with the bariatric surgeon, hoping it would be enough. It's close, but he's still not 100% sold on trying it on me. That's fine, I'd rather know I have an honest Dr who is going to shoot straight with me. My husband was very impressed with him and his honesty. So, I think if I go forward with this Metabolic Research Center, and go back to him, it will put his mind at ease that I have not just given up and thought that WLS was an easy way out. I know there is nothing easy about WLS. It's a life change too, but it does give some help to the person trying. Sherri
