Hi Paula
Thanks for the welcome. Providence fire has 14 engine companies, 8 ladders,,6 ems,1 air supply unit 4 marine units and 1 special hazard truck. Dispatching has 5 groups,1 lieutenat and 2 civilian dispatchers per group. Each group works a rotating shift,1st 2 days 0700-1500,next 2 days 1500-2300,next 2 days 2300-0700 and then they have 4 days off.
The police dispatchers work in the same building, they work sraight shifts.
Due to contracts over the years they have 2 different schedules, the senior dispatchers and senior control center operators work 6 straight days with 4 days off.the new dispatchers and control center operators work 4 days on with 2 days off. Dispatchers work in the communications dept. Both police and fire departments have around 500 members.

I do not know where my head is today. How are you? Are you doing any exercising? It took me a little over 6 months to start walking. My wieght at surgery was 478 and my goal is to be between 220-240. If I can get there great, if I go lower great and if not I will still be happy.
Have a great day!!!!!

Welcome Doug!
Sorry it has taken me so long to respond, I have been having issues where I couldn't type, so I have been MIA and it was awful. It is always great to have another dispatcher (or former) join the group! I work in Lebanon PA, a samll county, 120,000+ people. We do all aspects of emergency and non emergency dispatch for the entire county.
I had open RNY 9 mnths ago and have lost 110 lbs so far, and feel great!
I hope to see you posting mor eon hee.! take care

I am a Senior Public Safety Dispatcher for the City of Poughkeepsie 911 center run out of the Police Department. We are a small center with only 15 fulltime employees including myself and the 1 other supervisor. We dispatch Fire and Police and currently transfer EMS to local provider but send FD on life threatening calls. We are just in process of becoming EMD sometime this year.

Hey Douglas,
Sorry for the delay but I was on vacation - yeah I got a vacation - woo hoo! Anyway, I'm a 911 dispatcher (Fire, EMS and Police) on Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base in Jacksonville, NC. I've been a dispatcher off and on for the past 14 years (San Diego Sheriff's in California, Beaverton PD in Oregon and here in NC). I had WLS 8/22/2002 and have lost 217, 17 more to go to goal but it's been slow - probably because I need to get my behind back into the gym... lol!!! Anyway, I hope you're having a great day!
Sheryl
