Sarita,
Good to have you aboard! I'm still kinda new here also, but I've worked for a few dispatch centers (Beaverton PD in Oregon, San Diego Sheriff's, San Diego DoD, and now DoD at Camp Lejeune in NC)... I love when it's busy and loved the larger centers I've worked at but there isn't as much bs here, so it's a toss up... lol! We do Police, Fire and EMS here... Where in Washington are ya???

I need to find where to apply for the century club card here at OH
Topic: RE: Weekends off?????
you are right, 6 on/2 off is tough, that 6th day makes for a very long week.. how do you get 3 day weekends out of it? we never see those, just automatic overtime
and yes, set schedules are much better then rotating.. my sister is a cop for the city and works 2 weeks of each shift... yuck but she likes it

Congratulations on your goal...(we aren't counting that 1 lb !!!!!)

Hi Brianna,
Sounds like we have the same schedule....6 on / 2 off....do you get the 3-day weekends, then?
It is a rough schedule...but at least we are on permanent shifts...I can't imagine what it would be like if we had to rotate from midnights/days/evenings.

Topic: ALMOST hit my mini goal
I am not really angry, just perturbed.. I had set a mini goal of 100 lb loss by my 8 month anniversary.. well, I did my monthly weigh in last night I am down 99!!! I am going to blame it on my arm, it is big time swollen, lots of fluid retention, had it not been for my arm, I would have lost that other lb, I just know it! haha (going back to the Dr today to let him know it is getting worse, and I need
)
Hey, bright side is, slow but sure it is coming off.... and 99 lbs is something to celebrate
last year this time I was miserable and felt awful, had pain in my knees and back, couldn't stand or walk more then 10 minutes without pain setting in... I got winded walking up the driveway to take the trash out each week, and forget walking my big dogs, that wasn't ever happening.. but now all of that has changed and I feel great! Life is good, 1 lb or no 1 lb.. I am doing it!!!

Welcome Sarita!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is nice to have you here... there really are a great bunch of ladies here (no men have surfaced so far, that I have seen) Even if hide and seek is their favorite games these days
It is a great group...
I work in a small center too, emergency, non emergeny, county slave as it were ( we page everyone from road crews, to sheriff, to detectives, to district justices, to whomever anyone needs) there are about 120,000 in the county.. we don't see alot of action, but is sure can be interesting at times!!!
I hope you enjoy your stay with us...
Brianna

Hi all!
I'm new to posting here but I've been lurking awhile.
I work as a police, fire, ems dispatcher for a small comm center in western Washington.
It'll be fun to chat with other dispatcher's and see what I'm missing from bigger centers.

We don't get weekends off at all.
We work set schedules that basically never change....you either work Sunday-Thursday or Wednesday-Saturday.
We work four 10 hour shifts and bid by seniority...the most senior person can have whichever shift they want until they no longer work there.
