Topic: Way to go Pamela!!!!!!!!!!!!
My wife just had her's on May 18th. She was a wreck before with her nerves, but she seems to be doing good now. We was in the hospital for 3 days....(1) Day of surgery (2) Recovery day (3) Dismissed day. I had to sleep on a recliner for 2 nights, it was fun,fun (NOT). So try not to sweat it to much. I have off till Monday, wow no radio or pager to tie me down. It is much needed time off. Between Paramedic clinicles and work, and this WLS, life was getting way to fast. Well better get going now. Try to relax Pam as much as possible. Keep us informed

Rita (wife) will have her's done on May18, yup it's Tuesday. I will spend the 3 days there with her,and christ it will be a long 3 days. Not to fear I have plenty of Paramedic class work I need to study to get ready for my boards this fall. I think people forget that their support group (ie family) also will have lots of adjustments to make too. No pigging out on pizza etc. Ok now you gals was talking about some of the BS you have to put up with as a dispatcher, working the ambulance is not any better, between Medicare, drug seekers, and our wana-be siucides , some times you just want to tell them to kill themselves right next time so they don't waiste our time. But all is well when you know you have made a difence in someone's life. Well better get going, I will put my pix on in the near future

**I just posted this on a couple other of my boards. I thought I would post it here so you all could see what I found out as well...**
Well, I did the cottage cheese test twice and came up with the same result....an 8 oz pouch. I was devastated.
I finally decided to try the oatmeal (I think Connie mention to try tuna but I couldn't stand the thought of it....
). I made it with low-carb milk so as to up the protein content of it (1 serving has 17 grams of protein when made with that milk!) Anyway, I'm starting to dump on it anyway.
Oh well.
But the news! The news! I ate 6.5 oz of the oatmeal. I also feel like the last large bite was too much, so I would put my pouch at 6 oz.
Also the fact that I'm starting to dump right now would give me the indication that I indeed ate a little too much for this test. I haven't dumped in a long time. I think over a month.
So there you have it - a 6 oz pouch instead of 8 oz. Still stinkin' HUGE but not as stinking HUGE as I thought it was originally.
Oh - and if you decide to try this, I made the oatmeal very thick and I used old fashioned oats...not instant.

As for me, I am pre-op. I can't wait to hit the loosing side! Actually, I am trying to be patient, and enjoy the whole process. Talking with folks, asking questions, and reading about the experiences of others has done alot for me. I can't believe how friendly and candid people are here.
I think an invitation to the dispatcher's board would be a great thing to do!
Have a great day
Pam

That's a great weight loss Tina! I am really slow right now. I just hit 2 months yesterday and lost 36 lbs. I feel like it should have at least been 40 based on my weight. Heck, I feel like it should have been 50! But that's okay - I'm trying to look on the bright side. I *am* indeed losing and will continue to do so even though I have a larger pouch than I should have. (I started out with a 4 oz pouch and with the cottage cheese test last night it was about 7 to 8 oz).

Topic: RE: EMT-B, not a dispatcher
Hey Bill thats cool Im a emt-I and rode a rig before I became a dispatcher!! Congratulatons on your almost paramedic, that is some tough schooling!!! Have your wife jump on this web site and start talking to folks and reading stuff. There is alot of great information out here. And you get to make some neat freinds. Good luck Tina
Topic: RE: Stimulate some discussion here!
Well I think what burns me up is when I go to send a crew(im an ambulance dispatcher) to a private transfer they give me crap about taking the call. They are on 12 hour shifts but think that taking more than 5 calls a shift is harrassment. When I was on a rig the more calls I took the faster the day went. But other than that I love my job as a dispatcher and I loved it when I rode an ambulance, I love EMS!!! And I love WLS!!!!!
