I have a border collie named Balto. Tommorrow I will be adopting a chihuahua(she may be mixed with something else...she is a bit bigger than most chis I have seen). The poor little thing was abandoned in terrible shape at the police station. Half her coat missing due to malnutrition....nails embedded in her paws. She has been nicely taken care of by a local vet and is ready to come to a nice home. My husband and I met her and fell in love. The vet says she is 2-3 years old and has had at least two litters of pups. He thinks someone was using her for breeding purposes. The jerks. She is such a sweet little thing. Should be an interesting day. Balto is a very territorial. He is wonderful with people....not crazy about other dogs. I know he will adjust because we took in a sick beagle last year for a few weeks. It took two hours with a muzzle, but Balto stopped wanting to injure him......and eventually started to herd him like he does with the cats. Well, I am off to get some rest....I think I am going to need all the energy I can get for the big day tommorrow.

OOOOO Kimberly, I am soooo happy for you! Chihuahua's are th sweetest most stubborn-ist animals alive lol but they are soo smart and loving, they are very territorial too.. so this should be an interesting transition for you and Balto! lol Have fun and I wish you the best! TC- CaNdIe

Hi again Kim. Years ago I had a little chihuahua.. his name was pipsqueak..Now he went on to the rainbow bridge. Pipsqueak weighed 2 lbs. He co-existed with 3 ****er spaniels. to make a long story short. Lil' Pipsqueak ruled the roost. He would eat first.. Those ****er spaniels wouldn't dare go near the food when Pippi was eating. He used to give them "what for"!.. I still miss him but am thankful that i was able to give him a good home in return for the unconditional love he gave me. Pipsqueak was also adopted.. He was found in Queens, NY cowering behind a car tire running from some kids that wanted to hit him with a shovel cause they thought he was a rat! Can you imagine!!! God Bless you and your four legged kids Kim Viv

Thanks Viv. This chihuahua is definitely mixed with something else. She weighed in at a healthy 12 pounds at the vet. If you ask me...from the attitude....she's got some terrier in her. Cute as a button. Thanks for sharing memories of your little pipsqueak. I had a beautiful calico female cat that has since crossed the bridge too. Miss her terribly....the new dog is approx her size...she weighed approx 11 pounds.

Hi Jenny, Chiquita is doing very well. She and Balto are getting along famously. She will be heading to the vet on Tuesday to be spayed and to have a growth removed. She has some sort of soft growth on her underside. The vet is confident that it is just the result of feeding too many pups.
