successful introduction between new chi and old border collie

Chiquita, the chi/terrier mix and Balto the border collie have now met and are tolerating one another. Chiquita is a growler. It took less than an hour and the two of them are now co-existing nicely. We have already figured out that we cannot throw a ball.....Chiquita is very territorial.....Balto tries to get it and they get very nasty with one another.....note to self....hide the toys. The cat is still hiding. She will come out sooner or later....I hope.

hi Kim!! It'll all work out.. and they WILL co-exist with one another. I live with 4 cats and a french bulldog. they get along splendidly.(well most of the time anyway) Viv

They are doing very well. Balto has taken this new dog on as part of "the herd". He is doing very well. I had them both out in the yard....the neighbor dog came up to the other side of the fence....Both of my dogs started barking....Balto pawed at Chiquita until she was on the other side of him.....so that he was between her and the neighbor dog...he is protecting her. very sweet....but then again...that is Balto's personality. Once he is over the intruder instinct....he is amazing. Love my dogs....and the kitty.

The dogs are doing so well! Chiquita had to learn that the cat is not to be trifled with though. She got swatted in the eye....made a trip to the vet this morning...two different kinds of eye meds. Oh well....live and learn....I hope. She is a very interesting little personality. Totally different temperament from the border collie.
