My poor Ruby!

My poor pup ( an energetic, bouncy shih-tzu/poodle mix) has been limping around for the last two days, and won't put any weight on one of her rear paws. She lets me touch her foot and she doesn't squel or try to bite me. This one has me baffled. Any ideas??

Did you examine her paw and each of her toes and pads or if she has a ripped toe nail, or a cut on her pad. Also very gently squeeze or massage up her leg to her hip feel for any warmth or swelling, and if you can move each toe, the paw, the hock, the knee, and the hip. Is she licking any spot on her leg? This will give indication of where she hurts. Could she have gotten frost bite? If it doesnt get better by monday or you cant find the problem take her to the vet. My dog sprained her tail, and it was warm and swollen and she wouldnt move it so I gave her an asprine, Never Tylenol (tylenol is toxic) and she was ok the next day. Good luck I hope Ruby feels better soon. Rosemary

My lab was doing the same thing so I looked over his paw a million times...and came up with nothing! Turns out, it was his hip. They will hold up their paw if their hip is bothering him...he has arthritis the vet said. HTH Sally

Time to take Ruby to the vet and not second guess.. It could be her hip.. or just about anything. Vivian

Thank you all for your responses. Rubes is fine now and the vet couldn't find anything. Maybe she has a flair for being dramatic??
