Hi Loriann..He's got to be adorable..I would watch him the way he plays and interacts with everyone to get a name..Does he act funny, or more grownup than he is, I love the name Blue,General,Patch,Tang. Several of my friends have had ****ers over the years and these names are fun reminders to me..Carolyn

I named all my doxies human names...Gus, Heidi, Dieter and Molly. Since ****er spaniels are an English breed, why not do an internet search on names that originated in England.....at least its a starting point...Good luck! (Oh and yes I know, Molly is not german...but she is a Molly believe me!)

From the time my husband was a small child he has named all his pets after kings and queens. For example... When he moved from England to Columbus, OH, USA 7 years ago, we bought a border collie X. He named her Queen Isabella (or "Izzy" for short) because she was the queen that originally lent Columbus the money to first come to America. Since my husband had just come to America, and he was living in Columbus, it just made sense. Maybe that'll give you an idea.

Even though I now live in Cleveland I lived in Columbus, Ohio for a long time. Nice people, nice city. I am totally blind and have had 3 guide dogs. My first one was a black lab named Mongo. I got her from Pilot Dogs, Inc. a school in Columbus that trains guide dogs for the blind. I have to assume somebody got that name from watching the movie "Blazing Saddles" and they just liked the name. My most recent guide dog, who is now retired, but still rules the Jock household is a male Golden named Expo. I got him from The Seeing Eye in Morristown, NJ. I have had people ask me if he was named Expo because he likes the Montreal Expos. I tell them absolutely not. He's a Cleveland Indians fan. He knows he'd better be or lose his happy home. I think a lot also depends on a dog's personality as to what their name should be. I still don't really know where they came up with Expo. He's quiet, well-behaved and minds his manners most of the time. I'm figuring that maybe he was a real pistol as a pup. I do always find it interesting, though, to htry and figure out why people name their dogs what they do. By the way, Expo is retired as of September 2004. He's ten years old and figure he deserves some vacation.

The best thing to do is go through a baby name book. I find some great names in there. Also there are many website specific to pet names that are really good too. best of luck. I had my puppy for 3 weeks before I came up with his name, it will come to you.

Is he an American ****er Spaniel or an English ****er Spaniel.. Two different breeds. I used to have 8 of them.(American). One was a champion. HIs name was Misty.. I had.. Misty, Paula, Sneakers, Willie, Nigel, Princess, Bones, and Static. Watch his little personality. Make sure you get him used to being combed every other day or else he'll get matted. and.. Keep those ears clean or else he'll get a little infection in his ears. Gotta watch dogs with drop ears.. keep them clean and dry. Vivian McCormack

Hello Vivian, My puppy is an American ****er Spaniel. I decide to name him Simon...Sir Simon Luv's-A-Lot. His parents had drinking names...Captain Morgan and Lady Black velvet. I thought that he needed a G-rated name. He misses me when I'm at work and gets so excited when 'Mommy' comes home. He loves his bath and goes to the tub when he wants one. he has learned to sit and he is working on learning to shake. He is an absolute doll. Thank you for your post. Wishing you a very blessed week. Loriann
