Daschund
I hope I spelled that right...I inherited a 6 month old female. Does anyone know if they can be difficult to potty train. I have a 3 yr old Shihtzu and he was the easiest but "Missy" the dashund has been a nightmare she is now close to a year old and things are not getting any better.....I love her but hate the potty issues.

My dog is 1/2 doxie is 1.5 years old. He goes out when he needs to, but at night we keep him in the basement with some newspaper and he goes on that. Try that. We had to keep the paper in the common areas of the house and we slowly removed it from different rooms. Now he sits by the door when he needs to go.
Hope the paper training idea goes!!

Hi Sonya, We have a beautiful 9 month old cream colored dachshund. After getting her, we were told by may people (also checking on the internet) that they are one of the hardest to potty train. We kept here in the kitchen the first couple of months, watching her to make sure we caught the signals to let her out when she needed to go. Now she is very good about going out. Just pay attention to the signals. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I have two sets of sisters. One set we've had for eight years and the other set for one year. Yes training is difficult, we started a little ritual when we come home after work, etc., we go on a good girl check in all the areas they have access to, if all is well they get a treat, if not sorry. We have a fenced in back yard and a doggie door and that has helped a lot. Sometimes with my one year old Lucy, she has been a little slow in learning or is just stubborn, I haven't decided yet.
How 'bout some of that barking.
Hi Sonya! I know this reply is coming to u 3 months after your original post but I am new to this post. Anyways, I have a female doxie too and I have had her since she was 8 weeks old. She is now 12 years old. Boy does time fly! lol I love her to death, she is the BEST dog! I crate trained her and she did very well with that. Have u tried that? Let me know if you still need help. You can email me and I'll give u more info on how I crate trained her. But don't give up or get discouraged. Dachshunds are extremely smart dogs. They can be spiteful when they are mad at you though, just part of their charming personalities! I wouldn't trade my girl for the world!
Good luck.
Tammy
