New Great Dane Puppy !
Congrats!!
What color is Champ? I to am a great dane lover. I have a big baby boy named Nash. he is a black. He is 2. They are the best dogs. I have had Danes for a very long time ( and also breed) so if you have any ? feel free to ask. Yes they cost alot to keep but worth every penny! Good Luck. Kim

I have 2 great dane puppies.
The female, Echo, is a harlequin and is roughly 9 months old. She weighs in at 78 lbs. She is a darling little princess. I've never seen another dog as prissy as she is. She's also very timid and needs lots of reassurances about life. She is currently eating about 6 cups of Eukanuba Large Breed Puppy food per day.

My male, Romulus, is black with the cutest set of ****eyed ears you have ever seen. He is 7.5 months old and weighs in at 88 lbs. He is a Mamma's Boy. He loves to lean already, is wonderful at warming your feet (even when you don't want them warmed) and is a big time food hound. He is eating about 7.5 cups of the same food per day.

I feed my two 3 times a day. They are both perfectly potty trained and are in crates while we're not here.
The biggest piece of advice I can give you is that they need very little exercise, and then a lot of sleep. They are the most laid-back dogs I've ever owner. They're also shadow-dogs. They love to stay right next to you, which can be really complicated when you try to walk. Lots of chew toys to keep them from gnawing things like crown molding.
Other than that....good luck and congrats on your new baby!!

Gotta love em . Great dogs. The need a lot of socializtion. They can be deffensive of their people an property. Careful w/ feeding as they have large deep chests which makes they inclined to bloat. They do best with a raised feeder. Not too much running while bones are developing. Watch foot development. They should not be low in the pastern and if so it may be a lack of vit. C. Vet or breeder will know.
My legs are currently bruised from the whipping tail of a big blue dane female, but it was so worth it for all the kisses from those big soft jiggly lips. Say good bye to all items on your coffee table. LOL
I have 2 great danes myself and boy are they possessive. The male, Maximoose, thinks that he owns me... and he trys to block my husband from touching me... (not in a rough way... he just pushes his nose in between us...) We tell him he is the "creamy filling"... he is a harlequin...
Any idea how to direct the boy on how to aim for the correct location during breeding? He is always trying with our female, Delilah, she is a black/merle mix, but he is a bit backwards and keeps poking her in the eye or the ear... its quite funny but we will never have puppies if he doesn't figure it out...
both our babies are 2 years old...
