spoiled Jack Russell
I am Kristina, I have a 3 year old Jack russell named Baby Belle Angelle and she is a rescue from the city pound. I adopted her May 7,2001. This dog has truly been a god-sent. My best friend, although if you know Jack Russells have strong personalities and she has gotten quite spoiled(my fault) she is no longer eating dog food, she is one the B.A.R.F diet, it sounds disgusting, but it's bones and raw food. She doesn't getthe bones, but she eats fresh raw meats, mostly ground meats. She sleeps in my bed and has a set of her own pillows, she makes me take her out to the bathroom at 2 A.M if she feels like going, she has a toy chest full of toys, and she enjoys a fresh warm bubble bath with conditioner every-other night she's taken over my life, which I don't mind, but my family said I went to far with her no matter what I'm eating Baby wants it, but she doesn't want any old piece she wants what is in my mouth, I usually give it to her people say I'm crazy, I say I'm a die-hard animal lover, am I crazy?

This is a dog, she needs to be treated as one. What happens when you have friends/family over? What do you do with her when you go out of town?
Bathing every other day isn't really good for a dogs skin/coat. For a JRT, once or twice a month is all they need.
Allowing her to sleep in your bed and eat your food (literally) is setting both of you up for heart break in the future.
I also have a spoiled Jack Russell, named Buffy. She's 2 1/2 years old. I live by the rule if Buffy can't go I don't go. She sleeps with us, goes to work with my husband while I'm working, goes on vacation with us. If we go out to eat she is in the car. Has lots of toys, sweaters for the Fall, coat for the Winter, wouldn't want her to get cold. Loves to chase chipmunks, play rough, and thinks she's the baby. She gives as much love as she gets, and has brought a great deal of fun to our lives. Buffy, was given to me by my uncle after I loss my yellow lab who I'd had for 11 years due complications from surgery. So no I don't think your crazy, there's alot of us out there.

Kristina, I have two babies, Radar is a male Jack Rat, and Sally is a Rat Terrier. I love these dogs too and hope to have puppies soon. Sally had a false pregnancy and we believed her when she told us we would have babies soon. But when it got closer and closer to time she had the boobs for it but the tummy didn't ever grow. Soon the boobs went away and she went into heat again.
I wanted a little boy Jack Rat that looked like Radar. He is the black and white spots with a totally black head. He is smaller than Sally. We had him first and when she came in she bossed him around and still does.
You are not the only one that loves dogs.
We have a 2 year old JRT named Romeo, we adopted him from the JRT Rescue here in Houston, TX. He is not your typical JRT, he is very submissive and shy. He loves to lay in his cage or curled up in our bed, he is my wonderful husband's dog and my dog is our 7 year old Beagle named Russell. I wouldn't say we spoil him to the degree you do, he has his toys (and does he ever love them - YES), he doesn't eat much, like a cup of food a day (boy wouldn't that be nice) and every great once in a while my husband will take him in the shower with him. Guess who gets to dry him...hmmpp! Anyway, I feed my dogs off of my spoon or fork, depending on what I'm eating, they like malt of meal, oatmeal and green beans...I wouldn't take the food out of my mouth for them, but don't mind sharing if it's healthy for them. We always kennel our babies at the Vet's office when we go on vacation, it's better safe than sorry. Can you imagine loosing your baby 1000 miles away from home! OH I can't even bear the thought, perhaps it's the countless times the Beagle has had me and all of the neighborhood kids chasing him because he caught a scent and off he went without regard to his surroundings.
Nothing wrong with spoiling your baby, trust me I love my babies tremendously and am very attached...my Beagle Baby is in ill health since he's gotten a little bit older - very typical for the breed...the JRT is as healthy as a horse.
All I can say is she's your baby and you do what you feel is right, however I would nip the baths in the bud, you could inadvertantly cause skin problems and you wouldn't want to hurt your baby would you?
Take Care and God Bless,
Amy
