Looking for a pet, PLEASE HELP!
I am looking for a dog for my 3 year old daughter (who is great with animals). We found a stray last Christmas Eve and decided to keep her but she is in failing health. She is blind, can't hear, has a neurological disorder and gets pneumonia quite easily.
My daughter is heartbroken and I really want to get her another dog, small breed preferable (nothing bigger than a ****er Spaniel).
I don't have a great deal of money but willing to work things out. I have checked the local shelters and pet rescue organizations but they have a strict rule about adopting small dogs in rescue to homes with small children.
Can anyone help?
its tough for a young child when their dog is real sick but you should checked the local newspaper ads.Contact your local vet maybe they know someone who can not take care of a dog and is looking for a good home to go too.I wish you the best and I know when you find one your daughter life will be great because she has a good mother.bob

Shih Itzu (sp) are really small and gentle with children. Or there are many breeds that are mixed with poodles if anyone has allergies in your family.
I would check with your local animal shelter or even PetSmart has adoption days.
Sorry to hear about your doggie!
I have found the most wonderful dogs at the local shelter. I am sure that if you let your local shelters know your situation and what you want, they will be most helpful.
Don't overlook the mixed breds. I have found them to be healthier than the purebreds and are just as wonderful as pets.
Good luck in your search.
