I just thought I would take a chance and see if anyone knows anything about high ALT levels in dogs. I have a gorgeous 7 year old Golden who just had bloodwork done in preparation for a routine dental cleaning. When the results came back my vet told me that she was concerned because his liver enzymes were three times higher than the norm. She has scheduled him for an ultrasound after checking his urine and finding it dilute (lots of drinking and peeing). Everything else about him is completely healthy....he's not overweight, exercises daily, very active, good appetite and isn't vomiting. I'm so freaked out, he's a huge part of my life and I can't stand waiting another week till his ultrasound. Thanks for any advice/insight. Anne LP

A friend had a lab that had liver problems. She was treated quite successfully for a year or so with oral medication. She actually died of something else (snake bite) and was very active up to that point. I hope your dog does well. Caryl

Have you heard about the Diamond Dog Food recall? Has your dog eaten any of that kind of food? Back in December 2005, a huge string of Diamond Dog Food, was found to be contaminated with aflatoxin..which causes liver damage in dogs...which can, and has been fatal. Im sure you already know about all that..but I thought I would bring it up just in case. I hope your dog is ok
