Topic: RE: My doggie was attacked by an American Pitbull!!!!!!!
Sorry about your love one getting hurt. It does not matter that its not their dog. I would talk with an attorney or call your local court house & see what you have to do to take them to small claims court. Even if they believe they were not responsible they were at that time. Make sure you get pictures of your love one now which shows all his cuts & bruises, as well as an extra copy of the vet bill and a statement from your vet as to his injuries. I would make accountable the dog was on their property, they stated they were sitting for him and guess what, they are responsible. Hope this helps!

Topic: My doggie was attacked by an American Pitbull!!!!!!!
I am mad this morning and shocked. Yesterday my 16 year old daughter who is only 87 pounds soaking wet was walking my 19 month old Jack Russell Terrier and the little girl she is watching (along with her dog, a bulldog) in base housing and the American Pitbull that my neighbors are dog sitting broke his collar and leash and ran after my dog. He pummeled my dog and then pounced on him and was trying to get to his neck but my dog is a squirmer and he got out of his grips and took off running (he can run like an olympic track star) and the dog kept chasing him until my dog got him in the house. Well, the neighbors came over and began apologizing profusely and asking if my dog was okay and I told them he was shaken up but he seemed okay. After they left and I was comforting him that is when I saw all the cuts he had on his front and hind paws and he had a bruise in his groin area that looked like someone balled up their fist and punched him! Well, I got in my car and went over to talk to them and get their info and that is when they told me it wasn't their dog and they are just dog sitting. The wife tells me she doesn't even like the dog, and she has a chihuahua that they won't let near the dog. She said the dog has all of his shots and is nice to people but aggressive with animals. I told them that I tried calling my regular vet and they were closing and couldn't see my dog so we have to take him to the emergency room (which I knew would not be cheap), so they told me to keep them posted. I took him in, they ran test checked his bruises and cleaned him up and said he was lucky and that he had no internal injuries. They gave him shots for pain and antibiotics and when I left their I felt violated...the bill was $191.45!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so now money I had other plans for is gone. The neighbors came by after we got back to see how my doggie is doing and they were happy he is okay but they didn't offer to help pay any of the vet bill...they just LEFT!!!! I didn't ask for any money last night, but I need some QUESTION: Is it wrong for me to ask them to pay his vet bill since they weren't outside with the dog (even if they couldn't have stopped him from attacking) and it's not their dog they were just sitting?

Topic: RE: DOG BITE
Hi! Talk with your vet about his aggressive behavior, ask the vet what type of breed does he think he is. My niece had a lab/chow mix and no matter what they tried to do for the dog it didn't work, he was just too aggressive and he would bite anyone, so he had to be put down. That does not mean that this pup is a bad pup. Patients and time is on your side. He just needs to be trained and to know that you are the leader of the pack and he has to follow your rules. If you have cable, go to Animal Planets TV Guide and watch the show Whisper. He is a well know dog trainer and he gives you lessons on how to change your pups behavior. Hope this helps! It could be that he is scared and his aggressiveness is because of the fear. How long have you had the dog? Call the pound where you got him and discuss this with them, they also have trainers that may be able to help you. Hope this helps!

Topic: Rott/Lab Mix... needs home.
When I moved from IL to MN I couldnt find an apartment that would take a large dog also (expecially because she is half Rott). My sister decided to keep her as her own dog in IL which I was happy about because then I could know she was going to a good home and I would be able to see her. Well my sister already has 3 other smaller dogs and a small home that really isnt big enough for this ever growing dog of mine. Plus, my sister is pregnant and soon to be the mother of twins. My dog (Dakota) was raised with my younger niece and she would NEVER hurt a fly or even snap at a person. We raised her very well that way. But now we are looking for a home for her. She is about 9mo old and is a Rott/Black Lab mix, but looks like a full Rott with beautiful colors on her face and body. She lives in Rockford, IL. If you know anyone in that area that would want a loving family dog, Please let me know. Toodles!

Topic: RE: CHIHUAHUA VITAMINS ?????
Hi Janella, I Had a total of 4 chihuahua's I never gave any of them vitamins. However, I had/do feed them Eukanuba small breed. It is rather costly to some people, but for my babies this is all I feed them. It has NO fillers in it, thus you only need to give them a small amount. It contains ALL the vitamins a chic or any other 4-legged babe needs. Also, because you don't have the fillers in the food, the babes b.m. (bowel movement) is sooo much smaller I had a male for 16 years prior to his passing. I could'nt stand losing my cola, thus after two wks, I went out & got another I called him Smokie (6 lbs now) he is 4 years old now. 2 years after having smokie, I got my Girly-girl (5 lbs now), she is 2 now & last year I went out & got Pepae (boy) he is 15 months old (he will be lucky to weigh 3 to 3 1/2 lbs. full grown). I told myself I will NEVER have one baby again too tramatic. Anyway they will only eat 1/4 cup (Smokie & Girly-girl once a day. Pepae still eats twice a day, but he is weaning off the 2 meals now by his choice). I never ever gave my babies table food (made them have too much flatus Another brand similar to Eukanuba is Iams (same company runs both brands) it is cheaper with much less fillers than regular dog food (it also comes in "mini chunks" for small breeds. If you continue to give your baby the lesser brands ask your Vet for what vits you should give your baby. Warning..... to those with Chihuahua's NEVER NEVER give them pork this will give this breed the bloody runs Hope I've been of some help J-Lo

Topic: RE: NEW TO THE BOARD SMALL CRISIS
SOunds like a classic Chihuahua to me!! Chi's are known to become very attached to ONE person and become territorial whenever anyone else comes around. First advice would be to take her to some puppy classes. They will help you with that and other issues. Secondly I would advise you to turn over daily care to other people in the family. She is viewing you as "leader of the pack". By allowing others to feed and walk her, hopefully she will warm up to others as well. Good luck!

Take an obedience training course with him -- not only to train him how to behave, but to help teach you how to work with him.

Topic: RE: CHIHUAHUA VITAMINS ?????
I got my boy on April 30th, from the pound. I was out looking at small dogs, knowing all I really wanted was a chihuahua, but my Dad didnt really want a chihuahua in the house because he cant stand them...I live with them while I am overweight. My Mom and I decided to look at the pound, you never know there are sometimes small dogs there. What do you think? They had a six year old chihuahua male that came available that day! My Mom went home and told Dad and he gave in, I brought my baby home three days later. He was fed IAMS in the pound but he didnt like it and would barely eat it. So I tried Purina Kibbles and Mini chunks, in a plastic jug. And he loves it! Loves it! He doesnt get scraps very often...every now and then a little taste, but he always eats his food. I have read that chihuahuas wont eat a whole lot at once...that they like to nibble a little all day. I have found this to be semi true, he eats some but throughout the day he will grab a bite or two in between his larger meal. They say low blood sugar can be a problem for small dogs so I am glad he does this. And he is not overweight at all weighing in at just under 5lbs.
