Topic: Young Shih Tzu wanted- reasonable
Hi, Does anyone know of a reputable breeder who has young Shih Tzu pups available? I would prefer on the East coast and a reasonable cost. I am looking for my mom who wants a pup for companionship since she will be living alone. Thanks for your help. Diane

Topic: NEW TO THE BOARD SMALL CRISIS
HELLO IM NEW TO THE BOARD. I HAVE A 8 YEAR OLD MALE ROTTIE, SAMPSON AND A 8 MONTH OLD FEMALE CHIHUAHUA/BEAGLE MIX, NINA. MY ROTTIE IS A GREAT. WE CALL HIM MR BIG STUFF. NOW MY NINA IM HAVING SOME ISSUES WITH. I RESCUED HER FROM A LOCAL FOUNDATION HERE IN CONNECTICUT AND WE WERE TOLD THAT SHE HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN ABUSED SO I AM VERY PATIENT WITH HER. THE PROBLEM IS THAT SHE HATES EVERYONE EXCEPT FOR ME AND MY HUSBAND. MY 13 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS LIVING WITH HER DAD WHEN I GOT NINA AND SHE IS HOME NOW THAT SUMMER IS HERE. WHENEVER MY DAUGHTER GETS TO CLOSE TO ME OR MY HUSBAND NINA GOES APE. SHE HASNT BITTEN HER YET BUT SHE GETS MAD..WHENEVER ANYONE COMES TO THE HOUSE, EVEN MY MOM, NINA IS NOT ACCEPTING AT ALL. SHE GOES RIGHT FOR THE ANKLES. ANYONE HAVE ANY ADVISE ON HOW I CAN GET HER MORE SOCIALIZED WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY SO SHE ISNT SO VISCIOUS..

Topic: RE: introduce a new cat to dog
HI Sunny! Keep doing what you are doing! Introduce them to each other slowly, let your pom get near her so he can smell scent. Don't force them to stay together. You can let them run around in a room together when you are home to see how it plays out. I have owned several poms, and have owned several cats they gottone along just fine. Make sure you keep giving your pom the same amount of attention you give your cat so no jealousy comes about. Who knows, they may make great play mates while you are at work. Mine do! I have 3 dashunds, 1 pom-dot (half dashund/half pomerian); 1 pomerian (15 yrs old) and 3 cats. Enjoy, they are fun to watch playing with each other.

Hi. You should never "spank" an animal. There are other ways to potty train. Better to use a crate. Sounds like puppy needs a professional traner. The JRT is a very hyperactive breed.. They are TERRIER with capital letters. I'm sure with a little professional training he'll be just fine. vivian

My yorkies name is Pepper,Yes he runs the whole house. He lets us stay here to take care of the things he is to small to take care of.He is my first experience with yorkies but I sure it want be the last. I don't know how such a small dog has such a big heart. I know for sure he has mine.He sleeps between me and my husband. He stands on my chest and kisses my face. When 11:30pm comes he puts us to bed. He will start whinning to go out, and then it is time for all of us to go to bed. He just can't rest until everybody is in bed.He wakes us up at 7:30 am. I don't know how he tells time but he does. I could talk all night about him but I don't want to bore you to tears. so i willl stop .We all know Yorkies Rule.

Thanks so much Tami for the advice, pretty much everything you put in there to some extent we are doing. It's my fault I know, I look at him as my little son and everytime I see those cute little eyes, curly tail and floppy ears I almost melt. I will take to heart (seriously) what you have suggested and If I have more questions I know that I can ask you.

Topic: RE: New Great Dane Puppy !
Gotta love em . Great dogs. The need a lot of socializtion. They can be deffensive of their people an property. Careful w/ feeding as they have large deep chests which makes they inclined to bloat. They do best with a raised feeder. Not too much running while bones are developing. Watch foot development. They should not be low in the pastern and if so it may be a lack of vit. C. Vet or breeder will know. My legs are currently bruised from the whipping tail of a big blue dane female, but it was so worth it for all the kisses from those big soft jiggly lips. Say good bye to all items on your coffee table. LOL

Be sure she knows you are the leader here. dont send mixed messages when she is bossy. If it is not hwat you want(any behavior, send a clear simple message...NO!. Go back to basics. Crate training. remember she dosnt want to lie in it, so mack sure the kennel is just large enough to stand up, lie down and turn around. It is not a place for water bowls and feed dishes. It is also not a place for punishment. It is where she needs to be when she cannot be attended. When you come home, greet her, I lke to get down to their level to avoid jumping up. If she tends to pee when she greets you, have a loop near her kennel and take her right outside. When she does a tinkle "good girl". She wants to receive your praise and avoid your disapointment, so make it clear when you are pleased with her as well as when you're not. Good luck.

I have an aussie (14 yrs old) and 2 pits(male 2yrs and female 1 yr) They are great dogs. And so smart. Although they play rough together they never cross the line w/ my old girl(she wont have it) ther are soooo smart . My aussie recently went deaf and without any training or little boy retrieves her from the yard when we call them in. He goes back down the starins gently grabs her collar and leads her to the house. I love them so. Pitties ROCK!
