Topic: RE: chihuahua lover
No unfortunately I didn't have them all at the same time, but when I had my first one my brother moved back home and brought his chihuahua. They were both female and mines was older but my brother's dog was more domineering and she'd decide when my dog would eat or not. Needless to say I didn't care for this plus I was mad that my dog wouldn't take up for herself. Now this is what we're guessing what happen this faithful day, but my brother's dog would always be in the lead and my dog would follow her. Right behind where we lived was an alley that lead out to the street. That Saturday when they were let out to do their daily romping around, my brother's dog came home and mines didn't. It wasn't until Sunday that my cousin had walked home from Sunday School and came that way and saw my dog had been hit and killed on the side of the road. So we're sure they were on their way back home and my brother's dog was in the lead with my dog following behind. Well let me tell you, my brother's dog had a guilty conscience from then on cause whenever we were outside and I asked her where Sugar(my dog) was, she would tuck her tail and slink off. Do you plan to mate them? If not I would suggest getting both fix. That helps to mellow out the male and with the female you wouldn't have to wake up one morning to a yard full of mangy dogs.
Are you wanting a female puppy? He might be more tolerant of a puppy than an older dog. My last chihuahua we had about 6 years and I received a female pomeranian puppy. My dog Chip, was a male. He did not like this dog at all. He didn't really fight her much cause he was scared to get scolded but he stayed out of her way most of the time. As the pup got older and wiser she learned to aggitate him to get his food. Well Chip got so depressed all he would do is stay in his box. I finally gave up the pomeranian to a cousin of mine, but Chip still wasn't quite the same. He disappeared one night after we put him out to take care of his business. Don't know if coyotes got him, he got hit and someone dumped his body somewhere or he was stolen. We had him the longest.(7years) Now I'm ready for another girl chihuahua and hope to get it in about 4 weeks.

did you have any of these chihuahuas simultaneously? i had 2 males, but they were very jealous of each other and if i were around they would fight fiercly. if i were holding one, he would get so territorial and lunge at the other one. i ended up finding the less aggressive one a wonderful home, now he's the center of attention. but i would like a girl, and i'm not sure if it would be the same scenario.

Hi Nancy. I've had 3 chihuahua and loved them all dearly. They all had their own personalities and smart as a whip. My first one some kind of way taught herself that if her feelings were hurt she'd go back in my room and would not come out until you said I'm sorry! My second one was so small he'd jump in your arms and then climb on top of your head and dance around. My third one quickly learned what rubber gloves meant or any of his care items, tuck his tail and sneak off. I'm planning to get another puppy in a few weeks, hoping for a girl and we think we're gonna name her Chi Chi. As far as your dog barking and snapping at strangers, don't try to stop him from earning his living. If possible keep him by you or fence him off. Oh and they can be great mousers! My first one would hear a mouse and go sit where it was and wouldn't move all day if the mouse didn't. I could go on and on about these smart creatures, but you get the idea. They are quite loveable.

Topic: RE: what to name my new puppy ?
Even though I now live in Cleveland I lived in Columbus, Ohio for a long time. Nice people, nice city. I am totally blind and have had 3 guide dogs. My first one was a black lab named Mongo. I got her from Pilot Dogs, Inc. a school in Columbus that trains guide dogs for the blind. I have to assume somebody got that name from watching the movie "Blazing Saddles" and they just liked the name. My most recent guide dog, who is now retired, but still rules the Jock household is a male Golden named Expo. I got him from The Seeing Eye in Morristown, NJ. I have had people ask me if he was named Expo because he likes the Montreal Expos. I tell them absolutely not. He's a Cleveland Indians fan. He knows he'd better be or lose his happy home. I think a lot also depends on a dog's personality as to what their name should be. I still don't really know where they came up with Expo. He's quiet, well-behaved and minds his manners most of the time. I'm figuring that maybe he was a real pistol as a pup. I do always find it interesting, though, to htry and figure out why people name their dogs what they do. By the way, Expo is retired as of September 2004. He's ten years old and figure he deserves some vacation.
Topic: Dog cart/wheelchair
If you know anyone with a used dog cart that will fit 10 pounds to sell PLEASE email me! My yorkie went outside to go to the bathroom the day after Thansgiving. A stray dog came in my yard and broke his back. He is doing great but he drags his hind legs. He is starting to get sores on his feet where they drag. I thought I would try to find a used cart before I bought a new one.
Also if you have a paraylzed dog and have any tips for me please feel free to email me.
Topic: RE: Our baby girl is pregnant! Now what!? Please HELP!
I did some research on line. My Toy fox terrier got pregnant over the christmas ~ new years holiday and we expect puppies in about 2 weeks. My surgery is scheduled for 2/18/05. I'm hoping that I am home and able to help if needed.
Vera will need a big box to have the puppies in. Lots of shredded newspaper. Some old clean towels, clean thread to tie cord and cut it if Vera does not, nasal aspirator, rubber gloves.
I would suggest calling the vet and asking for any information they can give you to get you ready. Good Luck!!! and Congratulations!!!

What a horrible story. I would go to the papers with that. What kind of "Rescue" facility won't allow animals to be rescued? :o( Very sad. Very sad indeed.
Topic: Our baby girl is pregnant! Now what!? Please HELP!
Our baby border collie girl (1yr old) called Vera "hooked together" with our 2yr old border collie boy about a dozen times last week! She's definitely pregnant, and we're expecting puppies in 8-9 weeks. Woohoo! The only trouble is that we've never done this before. I'm worrying about a baby getting stuck half way out (or whatever) and it causing problems for Vera. Are there any general rules that I should know, like "There should never be more than an hour between each puppy's birth" or "If she rolls over on her back during birth it means one is stuck" or whatever!?
Any advice would be very much appreciated. Our primary concern is to make sure that Vera is healthy and happy after, and during, the birth. We love her very much. So does our border collie boy (obviously!)

Topic: RE: what to name my new puppy ?
From the time my husband was a small child he has named all his pets after kings and queens. For example... When he moved from England to Columbus, OH, USA 7 years ago, we bought a border collie X. He named her Queen Isabella (or "Izzy" for short) because she was the queen that originally lent Columbus the money to first come to America. Since my husband had just come to America, and he was living in Columbus, it just made sense.
Maybe that'll give you an idea.

Topic: I fell in LOVE with a Neopolitian Mastiff...
My husband and I both avid dog lovers were visiting a shelter when we came across a Black mammouth ball of fur, a neo mastiff. We played and pet him and fell so in love with him. We filled out the papers and waited our standard 5 day wait during wich time we visited him daily. We noticed he had a left runny eye and asked what was wrong with him they said that they would put ointment on his eye and that should take care of it. I also said that we would pay for waht ever it costed to treat him and make him better. They said no it was against there policy. Well we went on that fifth day to pick up our dog which we already named Baya which means beautiful in spanish. Anyway we got there and was informed that the eye infection was too bad and he would have to be put down.. I was outraged and I cried and begged them to let us take him to a vet they said no. Miami-Dade Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well anyway I would like to buy a neo does anyone know of any for sale or where I could find one? Thanks
