Topic: I wished Sweet Pea was here
Hi friends, My surgery date has arrived and I am sad . When I started my WLS journery in June 2004 I never thought my little sweet Pea (tea cup poodle) would be gone. She died suddenly on September 18, 2004. I told my PCP that the only thing I was worried about when I have WLS is how would Pea act while I was in the hospital for 3 days. Because I had never been away from her the entire 8 years we were family. Everyday my thoughts are with her and I wonder how she would have missed me while I was away. I would love to have another tea cup poodle but at this time Pea is so deeply rooted in my heart that there is no room for another little friend. I'm thankful for the many wonderful thoughts and pictures I have of her. Pea memories will always stay with me forever. Always going to be Pea's momma. Tammie G.

She may have been being shown that she is the omega dog to them. Since they are "family", and you were the outsider. I am sorry to hear about her being skiddish about other dogs now....it really is hard, coz you love her. What about LEASH LAWS???? I would report to the police dept that you can not even take yourself and your friend out for a walk due to other dogs being off-leash. THat is ussually a law in most towns. As for help - try obediance trainingl, that way, in a controlled environment, she can be exposed to other dogs. I do not have any other suggestions, other than maybe if you have some friends with dogs, that you can have some "socials" together, doggie parties - you know. Linda

I used to have a Border Collie who would lay down on the food bowl so her brother couldn't eat...does that count as stingy? (*grin*)

Topic: Why do other dogs bite my dog????
Here I am trying to get some variety in my exercise, so I tried taking my dog for a walk. There's a big park near us with a good walking trail, and people bring their dogs all the time. The dogs are off-leash, and everybody seems to have a good time ... except for my poor baby, a female Weimaraner. She's shy around other dogs anyway, and I was hoping that she would get used to just sniffing and being sniffed. Instead, while the poor thing was getting sniffed by a family of chocolate labs, one of them -- or maybe two -- bit her! Broke the skin and everything. The people apologized, but my dog is now more scared of other dogs than before. I can't really blame her. Any ideas from you dog-lovers out there? Donna

Topic: RE: Hello All...
I know what you mean about the small dogs running the big ones. I have a border collie mix (most of him is border collie...not sure what else is in there....awfully large for a bc!) who is around 65-70 pounds. He has always been an only dog. We added a little female chihuahua mix a few weeks ago. She is 3 and was abandoned. Got her from the shelter. Sweet little thing. Balto(the border collie) wanted to kill the little intruder at first. After about an hour....he figured out that she was part of the household. Now he takes care of her and lets her get away with everything. She steals his toys, eats out of his bowl etc...etc..and he lets her do it!

I added a picture of my puppy to my profile. He should be joining our family during the first week of January, I can't wait! Linda 268/181
