Topic: Hello All...
Hi everyone,
I just found this board, I am usually on the lap band forum, and stumbled onto this board, how refreshing and fun! I have 2 poodles and a pit bull puppy (adopted from my sister), the poodles are a toy and a minature. and they both run the pit bull! I am starting to believe the pit thinks she is a poodle too! The pit is now about 7 months old and around 40 lbs, the minature is 10lbs and the toy is 8 lbs. Their names are Priscilla, Penny and Nikki. They are a handful! I am so glad I found this board, such a nice change from talking about the usual stuff! I would much rather talk about my pets anytime!

Yes, I have experience with Labs, let me count the ways!!! I have 2 yellows, 6 yrs and 4 yrs. I assume you are on the loosing side, time to get out and walk that puppy! 2 reasons, make them heal, helps to let them know there is a time to freak/spaz out and a time to behave. She really needs to know you are the boss. Also, they just love to be with you and need exercise, dont we all? The more they are able to play with you the better. I use a thing called chuck-it. It throws a tennis ball very well and you dont have to pick up the slimey thing.
My older one calmed down after a year, my younger one who is 4! still acts like a 2 yr old! You never can tell.
Just be consistant with your commands, dont let them chew a shoe one time and say no the next.
Good Luck!!!

I know how you feel
. I just had to put my sweet little "sunny" to sleep on November 19th. She was the most sweet tempered little chow chow ever. I fell in love with her at the first moment I saw that sweet little face in the kennel at petsmart 6 years ago. My poor baby was born with an extreme case of hip displaysia. Which could not be corrected with surgery. She also had a knee problem that was corrected with surgery at 8 months of age.
This year she lost her vision. Surgery did not correct the problem. Then her poor hind legs started shaking so bad from the hip displaysia, she could hardly stand. Her medicine wasn't helping anymore. I had to carry her up and down the stairs to go outside and come in. She was so afraid of moving because she couldn't see and her legs ached, that she just layed around and cried.
Putting a beloved pet to sleep is the hardest thing to do. You know in your head that it is the right thing to do, but your heart says differently. You can't help but feel guilty and you miss them like crazy.

Mine is the same way! she runs throuhgh the house like a banshee!
everyone keeps telling me she will eventually settle down...maybe when she's 80? LOL

I too have a spaz mutt!! He's only 7 months old and is extremely hyper. I've heard they start to settle down after the first year. We had him nuetered last month. That helped for about a day, then back to hyper-city. Sometimes he'll just run through the house for no reason back and forth, back and forth, until he's out of breath. But he is cooped up all day....who knows. This is my first lab I've owned. Don't get me wrong, I love him to death, and wouldn't trade him for the world!!!

Tammie,
I am so sorry for your lost. My husband and I had to put our sixteen year old poodle to sleep over Labor Day Weekend.
I know how quiet and empty your home feels. I miss my baby so much also. I try to think about all the good times, how happy she was when I came home, how she loved to chase golf balls..... it helps.
Don't let yourself forget that you gave her a loving, safe, happy life and that she loved you dearly.
