Topic: RE: Sheltie Mom Here
My Sheltie is living with my ex, my kids are there part-time too... I couldn't take Buddy with me when I moved out since he is an alpha male and wouldn't have gotten along with my BF's Golden...Buddy is 10 and Robbie (the Golden) is 9...
I'll be adding a Jack Russell to the household the first week of January...he was born on the 6th.

Topic: adding a new dog to my home tommorrow
I have a border collie named Balto. Tommorrow I will be adopting a chihuahua(she may be mixed with something else...she is a bit bigger than most chis I have seen). The poor little thing was abandoned in terrible shape at the police station. Half her coat missing due to malnutrition....nails embedded in her paws. She has been nicely taken care of by a local vet and is ready to come to a nice home. My husband and I met her and fell in love. The vet says she is 2-3 years old and has had at least two litters of pups. He thinks someone was using her for breeding purposes. The jerks. She is such a sweet little thing.
Should be an interesting day. Balto is a very territorial. He is wonderful with people....not crazy about other dogs. I know he will adjust because we took in a sick beagle last year for a few weeks. It took two hours with a muzzle, but Balto stopped wanting to injure him......and eventually started to herd him like he does with the cats. Well, I am off to get some rest....I think I am going to need all the energy I can get for the big day tommorrow.

Thank you for sharing your pictures. I used to take care of a sheltie for a neighbor. He was a lovely sable sheltie. He has since crossed rainbow bridge. Wonderful dog. I have a border collie....black and tan....and tommorrow I am going to pick up an abandoned chihuahua that my husband and I are adopting.

I'm so jealous of you!. I love chihuahuas. I've had 3 and they've all met with a tragic end. The last one, Chip, we had the longest (7 years) and he was pretty much a one owner dog. Well we put him out side to use the bathroom a year ago September and haven't seen him since. Don't know if the coyotes got him or someone came by and scooped him up or if someone hit him and just dumped his body somewhere. He was such a cry baby that if anyone had come up to him he would have yelled out, and I'm sure he would have hollered if the coyotes had got him but we didn't hear anything. Went back to let him in after a few minutes and he was gone. I still have dreams about him and I end up crying. Baby girl is ready for another one but I'm not so sure. To house break another dog takes more than a notion. Continue to love you babies for me. I'll be there one day.

Hi all, I am Pauletta from Ohio and I am owned by 10 (TEN) wonderful Shelties (Shetland Sheepdogs). There is Charlie, Cierra, Trevor, Tucker, Zoey, Tosha, Cory, Dasher, Willow and Logan. Tosha, Dasher and Cory were all given to us. Cory was a stud dog who was past his prime when I got him 2 yrs. ago at the age of 9 yrs. old. Tosha belonged to a family that was in our 4-H group who was moving and needed a good home for their Sheltie. Tosha was 10 mos. old when she came to live with us, she turns 5 yrs. old in January. Dasher was in a bad situation. The people who had him lived in a shack and had numerous dogs (mutts and mongrels). Dasher was kept outside in a run down shed. He was thin, filthy and matted. Somewhere in his life, Dasher had been abused as he had major issues when he came to live with us almost 1 year ago. He has came a long way, but still has issues that may never be resolved. He has learned to trust and allows himself to be snuggled at times.
I do not breed my Shelties. They are my babies, members of our family. Their soul purpose here is to be loved for however long God gives us together. I say this because I lost my baby (Sheltie) Simon at 18 months to Kidney Failure. I had him for 13 short, but love filled months. He is now running the fields in Doggie Heaven, chasing birds and butterflies.
My dogs can be seen at http://friendpages.com/cgi-bin/public/pages/cover.cgi?pageid=mom8shelties

Yes, we have 3. They are so rotton and just too much fun. Skeeter is the oldest, she is Red SH, then there is Ducky, he is black and tan SH, and last but certainly not least is Scooter, he is a Red SH. They are so cute and just like our family. All our children are grown, but it is like we have 3 children still here. They love us so much and are so loyal and love their "treats". I had my lapband surgery two days ago and they just can't understand why they can't sit on my tummy!! LOL Glad to see so many others who love doxie's....
bye bye for now and good luck in your journey~Susan

Topic: Funny Story I read in my trade magazine!
Hi..
I was reading this story on the Train on my way home from my job as a dog groomer in manhattan.. Everyone on the train looked at me when I laughed out loud..Hope all of you get a chuckle out of it too.
Over the years of grooming dogs, us groomers do suffer hearing loss. I mean with velocity dryers in our ears and the little buggers yappin in the background.....
an excellent example is when Mrs. Crone bought in her Lhasa, Missy. I was finishing up drying a dog and Paula, the bather-fluffer mentioned..
"She said she would like to see Missy shaved just once".. She said she's never seen her shaved in all the years she's owned her"....she informed me as she struggled to keep the little maniac in the tub..(that dog NEVER likes to be messed with for grooming). Did she really, I told Paula.. she never mentioned that before. "Well, she said it today" replied Paula..I thought it was odd too cause she always acts like the dog is perfect just the way she is".
More dogs came and went.. it was finally Missy's turn.. I took a #10 blade (which is pretty close) figured that would be shaved enough. I had the dog almost stripped down when Paula walked into the room.
"What are you doing"? she asked with a furrowed brow. "Missy", i replied, without looking up. "But why are you shaving her", she asked, getting closer. "Maybe because you told me to", I said still not looking up. You said "Mrs. Crone would like to see Missy shaved just once".. so... shaved.. I said.. hanging up my clippers.
I said that she said BEHAVED!!!! She said she'd like to see the dog "BE-HAVE just once. Not be SHAVED just once!!! NOW i looked up.
Oh ____!! Please tell me you're messin with me! The look on her face was nothing compared to that on Mrs. Crone's face when she came to pick up Missy. There went a free grooming!

Topic: Mom of 2 Yellow Labs
I am post op for 3wks and yesterday was able to take both of my labs for a long walk. I am so glad I trained them to heal! A pulling dog would not be a good thing post op.
They have been so good while I recover. There is no better than a 77lb lap lab!
