Topic: RE: Boxers and Chinese Cresteds!
I have a Powder Puff too! Her name is Zoey, she is 10 years old. She is absolutely gorgeous, although right now she has a bad poodle haircut, because I got sick of all the grooming. My vet calls her the GIANT chinese crested, because she's 1/3 bigger than the standard. She weighs 18 pounds, looks perfect at 16 pounds. Her parents are 10 and 12 pounds, but she's a whopper! (More of her to love. ) Her paternal grandfather was a multi time champ - Cherokee out of Chattanooga. Her father is a blue ribbon winner too, but her mother was "pet quality." It doesn't matter to me. We love her just the way she is. Zoey loves to sing, and dance on her hind legs. She used to squeak her toys a lot, but she has been going through the grief process, so she isn't squeaking now. About 5 weeks ago, we had to put to sleep her life partner, our dog Bonnie (a lab mix.) Zoey stopped eating and just cried she missed Bonnie so much. Two weeks ago we adopted another puppy (a sheltie husky mix.) He gets on her nerves, but she is adjusting. At least she eats now, because she doesn't want the puppy to get her food.

Rescue dogs are the best. My family has bought two dogs in my 47 years. The rest have been rescues. I wish I had a fenced yard, more money, and a husband willing to have more than two dogs. I would have 10 if I could (without getting divorced.)

Topic: RE: Any Siberian Husky Lovers Out There?
We adopted a 10 month old male Husky/Sheltie mix two weeks ago. He is so smart, and truly the funniest dog I've ever met. He is sooooo expressive with those husky ears! The Nat'l Geographic Channel is running a program called "Designer Dogs." Try to catch it. There's a new breed called an Alaskan Klee Kai, which is a mix between a Siberian Husky, an Alaskan Malamute, and two other breeds ( I forget which ones.) The result is a tiny little husky, perfect for the house. Our Roscoe looks a lot like a Klee Kai, with more of a rounded Sheltie face.

We have 2 rescues from a shelter also. Pickles is a shepard mix and kosmo, she is a schnoodle... schauzer poodle mix, very tempermental and finickey like a poodle, lol she loves to go on vacations with us and go bye bye too. It breaks my heart to see animals mistreated and I wish I could adopt them all. To me it seems these rescued animals know you have saved them from death. They are so loyal and so giving and willing to please, just to be loved. I wouldnt trade these dogs for anything they are tied to my heart strings. The world needs more people like you, and maybe the world would be a better place, If people would show more love and kindness.

Topic: RE: I love SHIH TZU's
My suggestion is - DON'T DO IT!!! There is such a problem with overpopulation of pets right now that reputable breeders are in danger of being regulated out of business. I show and breed shih tzu, and - believe me - you don't make any money if you do it right. First, there are all the health checks on mom and dad. I surely don't want to pass on any hereditary diseases if I can avoid it. Then there is the health of the mom. Are you ready to do a c-section if necessary? That's $300 - 500. And the litter may only be 1 puppy. Shots for the puppies, worming twice, and you absolutely should not even THINK about placing the pups until they are 12 weeks old. Next, are you ready to keep the puppies if you can't find homes? Plus, why breed a mixed-breed dog? It would be far better if you spend just a fraction of what you would spend to breed to have her spayed, and let her be your little love.

I have 5 dogs and out of the 5, 4 were rescues. My one and only non-rescue is an American Eskimo(mini) named Xena who swears she is people in dog clothing. My rescues are King, an older (approx 8 yrs) Rough Collie. He is so gorgeous. His original owners abused the hell out of him. He was so matted when rescued 2 hours before he was to be euthanized by another lady from a humane society that all his hair had to be shaved. He could not walk on his hind leg at all. Now his hair is grown in and he is RUNNING on all 4 of his legs now. Then the humane society had a collie mix that had a litter of puppies and was homeless. They asked if I would take her and I gladly did once she had weaned the puppies. Then I found Belle, a sweet little black lab mix that had been through hell too. When I found her she was missing and eye and it was severely infected. Her ear was split as well. I took her to the vet......they did surgery on her and cleaned and sewed her little eye shut. She is the sweetest little angel. Then when going to visit a friend of mine in Dublin, GA....I saw the cutest little puppy alongside the interstate. She looked so lost. I stopped and she came right to me. I took her home and she is great. She looks to be a lab mix as well. Anyone else into rescuing animals? I love it! But wish I had a bigger place to keep them all! Blessings Sunshine Kim
