Topic: Adopt homeless animals from shelters or pounds
I adopted my precious Pekingese from the Animal care and Control (the Pound) here in Jacksonville, FL. She was homeless, cold, and skinny. She came home 2 days before Valentine's day in 2003 and quickly stole our hearts and now is our fat, happy fur baby. Our vet said she was less than one year old and in very good health. Remember these animals and that by adopting a homeless animal you save a life. Many shelters now have websites you can visit to look at the animals available for adoption. God Bless those who cannot speak for themselves. Susan (Peke Mom)

Topic: RE: Mini schnauzer
My mini-schnauzer is such a wonderful companion! His name is Bailey, but he wasn't named after the irish creme! (LOL) I took his name from a character in the FOX TV show "Party of Five" ... and we are a party of two 'cause it's just the 2 of us! Bailey has the sweetest disposition, is fabulous around kids, and has helped me become more of an extrovert. Before we left my apt, he used to run to the back window when he'd hear the dogs in another yard baying, and he'd bay right back ... oh go**** was just so adorable! Here's pictures of my Bailey & me ... I love him with all my heart! http://www.geocities.com/britsa4/BaileynMe.html

Love the breed - particularly love my spoiled little guy. He is so smart and intuitive towards his humans. What a joy to be around - fun in a little bundle of energy. He loves to snuggle under the covers.

Mr. Bud sounds so cute! We had to teach Elvis too, but he was a fast learner (not so fast about housebreaking). Does your Bud groan? Ours groans when you rub his ears (and that is his favorite thing). He would go on for hours if our arms didn't get tired. He is also a shoplifter. When you take him to the pet store, he just picks up what he wants and goes. We have to check his mouth before we check out.

Chris...that is great to hear about Elvis! What a great name for a basset hound...espeically one that sings! Bud, (aka, Mr. Bud, Bud-Bud, and Budder Doodles) didn't even howel (sp?) for the first time until we sat there like idiots for about a half hour doing it ourselves...and he finally did it. He threw his little head back, puckerd his lips and let out the most beautiful sound! LOL! The only other time he has ever done it..was in his sleep! It was like 3:30 am and all of the sudden this "moan" or "wale" came from the other side of the bed...I turned on the light...and woke up the dog. He did it in his sleep! Anyway, I am glad to know Bud is "normal"! I would have never known it until I read a book about Basset Hounds. He by far is the most entertaining dog I have ever had!

We love Doxie's too! We have 2 male mini's (and 1 basset hound) Rambo and Bruiser and they are wonderful. Rambo is 1 1/2 years old and is quite the character. He is so active that we had to get him a little brother. Bruiser is almost 6 months old and a real cutie. He is smart! They get along great and sometimes gang up on the basset. Elvis needs the exercise! Ours do not dig much either. The most they with do is take their blankies and dig a little at them to get them just right. They do race from one end of the house to the other at lightening speeds though! We call it the doxie 500! Do your doxie's crawl up on your neck like a ferret? My husband watches tv at night like he has 2 parrots on his shoulders.

We have an eight year old basset named Elvis and yes, he is the KING! He is spoiled rotten and only does what he feels like. He does not do fetch or any other doggie tricks. He does sing though! He loves to sing with us (especially happy birthday). He also will sing on his own if he hears the theme to Love Boat! Most of my neighbors know me as Elvis' mommy, not by my real name!

Congratulations on your new babies. I raise mini schnauzers. I think I get just as excited about new puppies as I would over a new grandchild. Puppies are so much fun. We always miss them when they are all sold, but know we will have more. I also have 1 male and 2 females. Hope to live in the country one day so we can have more. The city I live in now only allows 3 dogs over the age of 6 months. Good Luck! Linda

Topic: Love my Yorkie
A couple of years ago, we found this adorable little full bred yorkie at the local shelter. We were there when they brought her in and learned about the life that she had had. Someone had found her on the interstate with a broken leg. They had taken her in but could no longer keep her due to moving to a new apartment that would not allow pets I'm very sad for them but so happy for us. She has become our little joy. We have 3 cats that think that Pookie is one of them. She has congestive heart failure, so when papa and I take our medicine, she takes hers also. Sometimes she has a build up of fluids and her papa and I take turns staying up with her after giving her additional medicine. Does anyone else out there have any yorkies or know where we might get another little bundle of joy?
