Nope, didn't tell me a thing, except that I'd need a driver and someone to stay with me- maybe they thought that the surgeon's office had told me, and vice versa- wouldn't be the first time details have gotten lost in the shuffle lol
I just found on webMD details of the proceedure and it does, indeed, say not to eat eight hours prior to the proceedure. I'm guessing drinking is fine, but I'll check when I call the surgeon's office tomorrow to make sure they got the papers that they needed by today- if not, I'm spending tomorrow camped out in doctor's offices lol

Brandi,
I just had one a couple of weeks ago, I have had several, nothing to eat at least 6 hours before, usually 8, depends on the doc and why it is being done.
Other wise, no other prep, not that big of a deal, the drug ****tail is awesome for making you forget everything.
Just one more thing to bring you closer, yeah !!!!!

Thankee, Mary Jean- that's going to make for one looooooooonnnnnngggg car ride from Greensboro to Marietta (we'll be leaving out of town about 2 am to make sure we can get there in time for my 12 o'clock appointment- we had made all of our travel plans and gotten all the time off we could when I found out about this appointment, so that rules out going down the night before... ah well- at least we'll miss the worst of the traffic
), but I can do it
Brandi

Hey Brandi
Like everyone said no food but make sure to drink plenty before you 8 hrs. They could not find a vein, they even tried the juggler vein with no success. I wanted this surgery so bad and did not want a delay that I had them do it while I was wake. Would not recommend that
I had mine at the Dr's office in Thomasville. I gather you are going to a hospital in Greensboro.
I pray it all is easy sailing!
Patti

Nope, Marietta. They're doing it at Kennestone Wednesday, the day before my pre-op appt and tests (speaking of, what other tests are they gonna do to me?).
So I *can* drink before the EGD? Kewl- I'm good then. I'd hate to have to drive all that way (which I probably will, since hubby will be working till just a couple hours before we leave) and not have *something* to drink... I can ignore hunger- much harder to ignore thirst.
Thanks Patti
Brandi

I would ask them that. Usually it is nothing for 6-8 hrs. Since it is so late in the day they may let you. Are you going to see the pulminologist(sp). If so that is easy. You will just breath into this machine many times and take a chest x-ray. I was very impressed with all the Dr. offices there. I had to see a vascular surgeon because I had a blood clot when I was a teen. They will also do blood work at the hospital. There is one blood test they can't do until a couple days before surgery so when I went the day before surgery to have my picc line put in the drew it out of it.
Dr. Smith's office should have told you any other appointments they are having you go on. If not then I would say you should not be doing many if any other test.
Let me know how it goes.
Patti
Oh, how are you doing on losing weight ahead of time?
