Our friend Gabe who does not post here much had DS on July 1/07.  He is now having a tough go and has been admitted to the hospital with a large abscess in the stomach and is now being drained.  Has anyone had this and if so what was the turn out. Please swing chickens for him and his wife.  Maybe even say some prayers. Thanks Kel

Hey, the chickens are a swingin' honey. I didn't have any problems post-op (I know, Val keeps telling me I am the DS poster child). Sorry! Please keep us posted about Gabe.

Hey Kelly, Will definitely lift Gabe up in prayer.  Is he a patient of Dr. L's?  I hadn't heard if he was back from Poland yet. Hugs,

Hi Kel, Swingin Chickens. But he sould be fine as long as the hospital is got him on drains and anitbotics. My father got sever abscesses after a major abdominal surgery, wasnt WLS but his internals were still messed with. He had pocket abscesses from scar tissue and a large abscess on his liver because of the body trying to expell the infection. So the body incases the infection to control it, which is how you get an abscess. After a stay in the hospital and good anitbiotics my dad has been fine. So he should come out of this just fine.

I had a huge abscess after bladder surgery.  I had a high fever and felt horrid, but I came through just fine.  Praying for your friend Gabe.

Hey Kel,  Sorry to hear about Gabe's difficulties and hope that they are quickly fixed and he is back to recovering smoothly very soon.  Sending good thoughts, wishes and vibes his way.

I had an abscess, but it was two weeks after my surgery.  I had a tube & drain (placed in radiology).  I was put on a long course of antibiotics, and recovered just fine.  Be sure to alert him to watch for bacterial overgrowth after it is all over - I needed a month of Flagyl to take care of it.
