Not good news
Hi Kel, Sorry to hear about Gabe. The ONLY thing I do with chickens is Cook 'em and Eat 'em, but I will be MOST HAPPY to PRAY for Gabe. Just let him know that many of us here CARE about what he is going through and hoping for the best. I will leave the chicken-swinging to those who do it! May GOD keep Gabe safe and heal him quickly!
Prayers, chickens, karma and Juju flying! My brother-in-law had an abdominal abcess and they never figured out what caused it. IV antibiotics and a drain, couple of days in the hospital, and all was well.

Hi Kerry,
I want to answer your question about abscesses. Abscesses can happen at anytime, within weeks, months, to even years down the line. Its as simple as the body holds it fine, you never notice any problems, but when the body starts to become taxed, wether it be an illness, being over worked, malnurished, etc. Is when usually an abscess will rear its ugly head, as that happened to my father twice now and my horse too. But in my horses case its from years of damage done in her legs from racing.
Usually a CT scan can catch an abscess, even in the very mi-nute beging stages.
But don't get worried about it, usually with abdominal surgeries an abscess will cause problems within a few months if there is a problem. And from what my father's surgeon said (this was some 6 years back) men seem to abscess more than women. Mainly because they try to over do it sooner.
