I have no idea where on earth you got that IM the self appointed food police. Many people ASK me to tell them my opinion on their eats. I give it with the understanding that it is always just an opinion, neither right nor wrong. I dont believe your ever present quote of " If we could eat right, we wouldn't have needed WLS, right?!" Not every thing we ate contributed to our obesity. Its not like smoking where every cigarette is equally bad and killing us slowly. Healthy food and unhealthy food alike filled our menus. Over eating in general, eating foods harder to burn and lacking in basic nutrition wasnt 100% of our diets. I now and have always LOVED garden salad, fresh fruit and veggies, chicken breast and white tuna. I have always eaten these healthy foods. As it so happens 1 healthy meal of 500 cals for lunch just cant counterbalance 1 unhealthy meal of 5000 cals for dinner ;) I have only on a VERY few occaisions chatized people for what they eat. Generaly only in cir****tances where what they eat and what they want arent meshing. The wail of "oooh Im in a stall" followed by "ummm you mean I have to eat protein everyday?" is a good time to say HEY! If you want the results you have to put the effort in as required. Lea Anne from what I've seen you arent the "norm" Dser. A slight female eating over 3000 cals a day and still losing isnt what everyone can expect from their DS. Your malabsorbtion lessens over time too, when that time comes are you ok with the possibility of either eating less or gaining more? Just because you're at goal doesnt mean your done. You are done when youre dead and not before. You may want to keep that in mind when talking about other people's chances of regain ;) PK

Oh, I think I'm pretty much the norm, whether you wanna believe it or not.

From Husted's site:

"The common limb, being the portion of intestine where both food and biliopancreatic outflow meet, is made up of the most downstream 100 cm of small intestine and is the only portion where absorption of dietary starches, fats, and complex carbohydrates occurs. The capacity for absorption reaches a maximum within several months after surgery and cannot be over eaten, resulting in long term sustained weight loss."

I believe the regain seen sometimes with the DS comes from people that have now exited the "new convert glow" stage from their surgery and gone back to old eating habits, drinking full-sugar sodas, etc., resulting in the 10-20 regain sometimes seen with the DS.  I NEVER did diet -- NEVER could.  I'll jump off that regain bridge when/if I ever get to it, but at over 2 years out, it only appears to me that I can't really effect the scale no matter how stupidly I eat.  I do get in all my protein, however, because I am CERTAIN that I CAN effect my protein levels by not doing so.  But, I ingest an OBSCENE amount of carbs as well.  I see a lot of my sisters around here celebrating the same eating ability.  I'm not a "slight" female however, so no, not all females can get away with eating as much as I do anymore than I can get away with eating 4-6K cals a day like SCOTT!

It's "affect" not "effect".
