OT: How do you pronounce "Duodenal"?
I like #1, but so many around here in Indiana say du-ODD-en-ul that I've mostly converted. I still feel that du-o-dee-nul is better, but if you can't beat 'em, join 'em!

Love this topic. I recall in junior high (back in the '20's) in science class, Mr. Morganstein pronounced it 'duodeeeeeenum'. That's how I pronounced it for years. Then one day, I heard this British guy with a full out foo foo accent say 'duoddddenum' and it sounded so classy and proper. So when it came time to vocalize the name of my proposed surgery, I went for class (perhaps to compensate for a dire lack of it in other areas). I say Du-odd-enal Switch, old chap.
Well, in the hospital, while drugged up, I pronounced it "Mmbedodummm".
In the South, I suspect it's something like, "Duoden-y'all".
In the West, it's "Duo-doe-see-doe-all".
In Canada, "Dooo-'Oh-Dee-Naul" (pronounced the same, but with an extra 'u'.)
Okay, I'll shut-up.
