a/c and furnace in rv not right
electric water heater works sometimes, sometimes not
In UT, tire tangles with 3" bolt. Bolt wins. 3 times. First 2 repairs didn't work. Same night, carpet is wet in about 2' x 2' square. ?? No plumbing over here.
Next day, water dripping out under wet carpet. We check manuals, no plumbing under this floor. But now gas furnace is off/on, too.
Finally, it's quiet in here, in a rest area. Slide is half in, half out. I hear sssssssssssssss. I follow the sound (fearing another bolt vs tire episode) and there IS a hose, in the slide, being pinched every time it opens/closes. Never see it with slide IN or OUT but half way, there it is. We cannot stop it. Nothing we have will do.
Have appt in Phoenix to fix and look at everything else. They can fix it! The gas issue is a kinked line. Thermostat was bad. But furnace and a/c are history. Toast. They fix propane, water, thermostat. The big unit is 6 hrs, and we are now out of hours for the big weekend. So, this Friday is our best shot. Until then, no a/c.
I am not afraid because I have TWO extended warranty programs. One of them covered only the thermostat. Wire/hose issues are not their problem. The other would have covered the thermostat, but the deductible is higher. Cost to us for the water and propane hoses? $900. The a/c IS covered, but we cannot fix it yet. Have to stop first.
Then, suddenly 2 days with nothing new breaking down.
And then, tonight, 3 miles from our exit, smoke billowing, we pull over and for me, see my first complete blow out in my life. The tire is shredded! Good thing we got a new spare in UT, huh? And the truck that came to help us? Pinky's. White small Toyota truck with pink flames. Not a tow truck. Just a little helper truck.
Of course, Tucumcari, NM doesn't really have a large selection of tires, so our fear is now driving anywhere without a spare. Certainly proved we need one!
I won't go into phone, signal and WIFI non-service, but if you're looking for me, I'm often not here. Can't get here.
End of message transmission.

P.S. My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.
And this morning, spent the morning trying to find a tire. Found one on Route 66, one of the old businesses bypassed, barely hanging on. Nice shiny new tire, tho. And way cheaper than we priced them in Salt Lake, when the other went flat. But with that, we were able to patch it and it became the spare.
OK, so today I can talk to dealer in AR. Sorry, got parts, no time to help us. At least I can buy filters for the a/c and heat pump that doesn't work! I also want a used wheel that matches. If I need to put on a spare once a week, I don't want some ugly white reject sitting with my shiny chrome wheels, right?
So, can hunt for other dealres, but barely enough time to get parts. I was thinking about getting up in afew hours and seeing if we could make OKC in time to park at a dealer and look pitiful. LOL

Um. Because my toothbrush is always where I put it? My bars stay cold? I can eat what I want, when I want. Was that it?
This morning we were parked next to an Alfa motor home. Theirs had the catchy name "See Ya!" emblazoned across it's nose and butt. Alfa had so many good ideas. The slides are positioned so that you never hit your head while working the guts underneath. Utility cabinet (under) had built in paper towl and soap or sanitzer slot. Built in TV and electric cooler in another cabinet. Inside---- deep breath. the furnishings. I liked out bathroom better, but their bedroom. They have big house tye closet, big sliding doors. Ours are 2 open doors, odd shaped, but big.
But the sheer beauty of it! And they also live in an Alfa park model. It's their 2nd Alfa (+ home).
The creator had all these new ideas of ways to do things that had been done inconveniently. Too bad they put a 5 yr warranty on them, because it is believed that's what closed 'em down.
I like being able to pull over and use my own bathroom. It's clean. And keeping water cold in the frig.
But you know our 29 ft was JUST FINE. Now.

Hey, I thought I was catching up pretty good every few days.
I skipped the ones that asked for best vites.
always do. LOL
And I want to personally thank you for turning down the heat tonight. Nice and cool here in Shamrock, TX. Got the only 50 amp spot under a tree. Nice breeze.
Hardly notice no a/c. Might notice no heat later. LOL

Lions and tigers and broken tires "oh my" ...wow ...you guys have the patience of angels, cause after the 2nd or 3rd breakdown, I'd have ditched the RV on the side of the road and hitch hiked the rest of the way.....lol.
Here's to a less eventful cross country trip.

PS do you know when you guys are going to be in florida NY? Is someone coordinating your dinner here?
I think Florida, NY is June 22? Everything should be on the site. Don keeps up with that.

We spent about 2 hrs looking at other units in Mesa. Looked at another 2003 Alfa, but GOLD (not Ideal, like ours) and 2006. And a 2007 Carriage. Supposedly was owned by a tech. I guess, one of theirs, actually. It was nice, but still didn't have everything we have in this. But I bet it had a working climate! LOL
We did consider if we could park them door to door and unload ourselves before dark. LOL
But I didn't find anything I liked as well as this. Again, some have better bedrooms, some better bathrooms, some breathtaking living rooms or kitchens. One had HUGE storage underneath. It was the newest Alfa. Of course. Scared of Alfa now. I mean, 2-3 of us PRE-UP coulda fit into that thing! Supposedly was the only true 400 sq ft unit ever made (and within our wt limit), so very spacious. Alfa known for taller ceilings, so what they call "attic" storage. I need a 2-step stool.
But yeah, I could do without the tire adventures. And tonight, we can see where the water hose thingy can easily get pinched and leak again. Like faulty design? Or someone changed the hose type. Should be another type? I dunno.
And the really sick thing is that we love traveling this way. Preferably in a working rig. Truck works fine, but it's a lil snug for the 3 of us to just drive away and leave this behind. LOL
