Anyone lose foot pain/plantar fasciitis when you lost your weight?

The thought of lotion and socks just sounds icky! I never wear socks unless it's like 20 below outside and I usually only wear crocs or flip flops. I've been thinking that the more they shave the skin away the faster and thicker it grows back. I'll check out some lotions and thanks for the tip about not putting it inside the crack!

I'm going to sound like a broken record, so those of you who are sick of hearing from me, I apologize!

I, too, had those deep, deep cracks in my heels for YEARS.  A couple of months after going gluten-free (due to our daughter's Celiac Disease diagnosis), I noticed that ALL of the cracks had disappeared - every last one of them!  I didn't even realize it was happening; one day I just realized that they were gone.  Believe me, that was something I NEVER would have thought would be connected to gluten, but that is the only change that I made in those 2 months.

I did find a great lotion that helps - Gold Bond Ultimate Healing Foot Cream.  You can usually find it at Walgreen's for around $7.00 a tube.  It has uric acid in it, and I think that helps to soften up the hard skin on heels (and elbows) - it also makes your facial skin really smooth (so does a GFD)

Just thought I would mention this - it has been a good long-term solution for me, anyway (I've been on a GFD for about a year now).

Oh, yeah, the plantar fascitis has gone away as well, and my feet actually have arches in them again -

Sometimes this problem is caused by fungus.  It is a type of "athlete's foot"

Since I have lost 120 lbs my ankles/feet don't swell anymore when I sit at the computer.  Yaaaay!  Thank you DS.  I haven't had any heel pain from my bone spurs in the last  8 months but I can't really say if that is due to loosing weight 'cause with me that pain has always been a "comes and goes" kind of thing.  HTH

Yes.

In fact, I had completely forgotten about the fact that I used to have plantar faciitis -- and it used to make me MISERABLE.  Funny, I never thought of it as a comorbidity, but it was AWFUL and it's been gone so long I forgot I ever had it.

Hey PP,

I am still in the process of losing.   So far, my plantar fasciitis and arthritic knee are much improved, but not totally resolved.  I am hoping the progress continues until I am pain free.   At the very least,  things will get better.

Peace,

William

ETA:  Now if I can just get the urgency issue under control, I too will  my DS.

To teach something is to have it.  To have something you must be it.   Teach peace, for that is what you are.

Nancy, I had plantar fasciities 12/13 years ago and having had good insurance then (still married), I had surgery to remove the bone spur on one foot. The other foot I had cortisone injections and that helped clear that foot up. Now I don't so much have foot pain, but my knee is really given me problems and hard for me to walk well due to medial meniscal wearing down (cartilage), but not yet a "torn" cartilage. We are hoping it doesn't tear before my DS in two weeks, day before you. YEAH!

I had mild PF before my DS. I say "mild" because it sure doesn't sound like it was as painful as some of the stories I've read here. Anyway, it's long gone, and like Diana, I even forget I had it until someone mentions they have it!

I had the kick-butt duodenal switch (DS)!

Absolutely yes.  In fact, although not a technical co-morbidity, I often mused about getting out of bed in the morning and waiting for the pain as my feet hit the floor.  My feet were a mess.

Since losing the weight, no issues (other than the sometimes pain of wearing really hot shoes that should be criminal LOL).
