Why can't I eat Chinese food anymore?
Everytime I try to eat at what used to be one of my favorite Chinese restaurants I always get sick. I've tried 3 times and it happened each time. I eat chicken everywhere else and I don't have a problem with it then. I really don't think I'm eating too much either.
At first I thought it was the meatballs that they have because I got sick on one of those from Subway once. So this time when I went all I ate was a half of one at the very last of the meal BUT I started feeling sick BEFORE I ate it so I know it wasn't from it.
Is there something that they may cook the food with that is making me sick? I haven't eaten any rice there since I had my DS so I know it isn't from that. Does anyone have any idea?? I'm just curious about it not really too upset. Since I've had my DS I don't care as much about eating there. It just doesn't seem as good as it used to be. I don't know if its because I throw up or what but I'm ok with it either way. That's just one more thing I don't have to worry about overdoing it with.

Sensitivities (Allergies) can occur any time in life. Who knows if that's your issue here or not. Chinese (Asian) food is by far my favorite cuisine with French a close second. Sadly, it's damn hard to find good Chinese food here in Orange County. It's practically Mexican or nothing at all, and I tire so easily of Mexican fare.
Chinese food was also the hardest for me to tolerate post-op. Took a good 6 to 8 months for me do well with it. I first tried it about two months out and actually got sick very quickly while at the restaurant. I didn't even get to any fried or steamed rice, so I postulated it had more to do with the crunchy vegetables which managed to fill me up too quickly and were too hard for me to digest so soon. I should think you're far enough out that shouldn't be your issue now.
Perhaps a very detailed food diary and a talk with the chef could assist you in isolating the problem foods or ingredients used.

OMG!!! Just yesterday I said the same thing to myself!!! I have come to the realization that I can no longer eat chinese unless it's wonton soup. I also get sick every time.
Previously I thought that it was the rice, but I ate NO rice yesterday - all meat, except for half of the pot sticker dough.
I dunno what it is unless all of the sudden I am allergic to the MSG - but what a bummer.
Still worth the trade off for the way I look though!

Mono Sodium Glutonate. It's both a preservative and flavor enhancer, much like how salt is, but different. My husband is highly allergic to MSG. As in he used to react to MSG as if you had given him PCP. Scary, scary stuff for some people. We frequent Chinese places that use no MSG.
