Idiots
I had to fill out some paperwork for my son to start Kindergarten today. The lady in the front office was reading my paperwork and decided to mention something about my name, which is Starr. (I hate people who think they're making some sort of witty comment when they sing twinkle twinkle to me. I've been hearing that since I was born, can you come up with something more original?)
The office lady then starts making comments about Star Jones and how awful she looks, and how she can't understand why anyone would have their guts rearranged to lose weight and blah blah blah.
I Cooley looked at her and replied, "I had bariatric surgery back in April and it was the best thing I've ever done for myself."
You could have heard a pin drop in that room. Everyone shut up, instantly.
And you know what? It was one of the most empowering moments I've ever had. I'm not ashamed that I had surgery to help myself. Anyone who thinks surgery is taking the easy way out can go shove it. I LOVE my DS!

You gotta love livin', baby, 'cause dyin' is a pain in the ass.---Frank Sinatra
Woot!! You tell 'em girl!! Who cares what they think, because you look amazing. I agree, surgery was NOT the easy way out!!
I hear you about the Star comments, my hubby's name is "Star s o n", besides the usual comments (you have probably heard yourself) I get, "were his parents hippies?"

You go girl! I am glad that you put her in her place! People who have never even researched what goes into WLS really shouldn't even comment. I used to think it was the easy way out too, before I did my homework. Now that I've had my DS, it is NOT the easy way out!
You rock that attitude of your's girl!
