Heal my Heel Spur My dog is barking constantly.
I totally agree with Lisa's post. Don't bother with anything OTC. Except I will say that my neighbor had good luck and found some molded clogs with a good firm arch support. They really helped her and she was one who had already tried the boot thing. It takes time but I got to where I really loved the firm arch support of my custom orthodics. I haven't had to use them for years.
I too suffer from Plantar Fasciitis. I'm suffering as I type this with my right foot. I ended up having surgery on my left foot in the 90's and it's been pain free ever since.
I have had the cortisone shots. I am currently using orthotics. They are called 10 Seconds 3/4 Rigid Arch Insole. It's helping some but not totally. When mine flares up it really debilitates me. I feel your pain. If my right one doesn't settle down in the next few months of treatment I'm going to consider surgery.

I've had plantar fasciitis for several years. Oh, how it sucks when it's hurting.
1. Like everyone else suggested, get some orthotics from a podiatrist. That's probably what helped me the most.
2. Get some Birkenstocks. They also help unbelievably. Yeah. they're ugly, but you will grow to adore them anyway.
3. Roll your foot/feet on a can of frozen something (I used a can of beans), for 10 minutes several times a day. It helps reduce the inflammation. Also, if you can tolerate ibuprofen, take some hefty doses of that for several days to reduce inflammation.
4. Foot yoga. Which is: Do circles with your feet 15 times in both directions. Then, do at least 10 point and flex with each foot. Finally, with foot flexed, curl and uncurl your toes at least 10 times. It will hurt on the top of your feet and your shin initially, but that's because those muscles are weak compared to the posterior muscles in the foot and calf. Do these daily, ideally before you put weight on your feet.
