Maternity pants for hernia? Don't laugh, I'm serious!

I am seriously thinking about getting maternity pants for my incisional hernia - it it HUGE! Never having worn maternity pants, I assume they will fit better through the legs & rear, but not press too much on my tummy (where my incisional hernia is about 12-14 inches long & REALLY sticks out). If I buy a pair of pants that fit my rapidly disappearing azz & newly skinny legs, the waist is too tight. If the pants fit waist, the rear & legs are droopy. I am planning on a hernia repair about this time next year when my weight loss is done (unless it starts causing me pain before then), hopefully with a TT, but what do I do in the meantime? Don't laugh, I'm serious! Thanks!

I am dealing with  hernia too, and it is a real nuisance. I still wear mostly size 16 jeans because the waist on the 14 is too snug cause of belly sticking out. I don't think my hernia is a big as yours; I never thought of buying maternity pants. I did wear one size 14 jeans I had in my collection, but they were very tight thought fit great in the a$$ and down legs. I plan on waiting another year or more so I, too, can get the TT. If you get maternity pants, let me know how it works out.

In theory I could see the maternity pants working...that would allow you to get the butt/leg fit you need without the tummy pressure. When I was expecting, I was very sensitive to pressure on my stomach. Maternity pants are perfect for that. Modern maternity pants don't even look like maternity pants, except for the stomach panel. You could even get jeans.

Thanks Sarah! I think I'm going to try on a pair at Target.

I don't think it's a bad idea. I had a Ventular (sp?) Hernia (upper abdomin) that i just had repaired. And I can see how your pants would be uncomfortable. Coming from someone who was recntly pregnant they have some really nice maternity pants out now. Very Comfy too :) No one would ever know.
Hernia's are no fun I'm sorry to hear you have one. I wouldn't wish them on anyone.

Thanks! I think I'm going to try a pair! Luckily, my hernia doesn't hurt at all, just looks "funny" & makes it hard for pants to fit! I had an umbilical hernia repaired with my DS, but this one is even bigger... I guess I'm prone to having them.

What a great idea.  I have the same problem with pants being too big in the ass and legs if I get them to fit my belly.  It never dawned on me to look into maternity pants for a better fit.  Hmmm.....
