Is Geriatric **** a Style?

I'm giddy and scared.  Now that I don't use Omar the Tentmaker as my fashion consultant, I'm struggling to find my style.  I'm wearing skirts slightly above my knees and I am loving just enough of a neckline to show off my collar bones.  But next year I'll be 59!  I'm trying so hard to find a balance that is age and size appropriate.  I still have about 40 pounds to go, yet I am seeing Geriatric **** in my future if I'm not careful.  For the sake of small children and people everywhere, I won't do a bikini or even a two piece with this saggy skin.  No promises for anything else though.

Any other Boomers feel the same way?

I am just  starting, but was having issue with that before, as I have a 25 and a 31 yr old dau, they are for ever saying it is their job to be sure I stay current!!!  Not ne frumppy or tuen into a geriatric **** ........

One is very preppy and the other is new age, so between them I do get, " you look great " once in a while....LOL

OMG,  I just bought a low cut leopard skin blouse yesterday.  In 2 months I'll be 61,  ugh.  I'll wear it around the house for my dh but I do love it.  Should have done this years ago.

I think you should dress how you feel.  I am 47 and was thinking about cloths and what is appropriate for 50 year olds.

I live on Fort Myers Beach and I see 80-yr-old men in speedos for God sake lol.  TMI.

I look forward to sun dresses and blue jeans that zip up and I can tuck my shirt in and wear a belt.   I totally loved this post.

A woman told me yesterday to keep an eye out for her 79 year old sister in law when I am in the Canary Islands next week.  She said to look for the lady on the beach in the bright red two piece!
I have spent too many years wearing whatever fit with no thought to style or fashion in mind because sadly I didn't have those options.  Look out world when I get to goal!

Cheers,
Mickie

I try to find a balance between youthful dressing and mature dressing.  Last weekend we went to a party.  My DH's ex girlfriend was going to be there.   She is this hoity toity thing that always felt that she was a bit too good for my DH, because in her words, "She's a successful businesswoman and he is only a chef."     I have been told by several folks that I intimidate the heck out of her.   Dunno why - I'm about as unintimidating as they come.     She also has fake boobs, for what it's worth, and my DH had heard from a mutual friend that she had recently gained about twenty pounds after a lifetime of being thin.    DH wanted me to look hot.....I didn't want to look like a teenager.    I wore a pair of black skinny jeans tucked into black suede low heeled boots that had a little bit of slouch to them - my DD says they are all the rage.  I wore it with this really cool beautiful longish royal blue handknit sweater-shawl kind of thing with a black turtleneck and lapis earrings.    Got lots and lots and lots of compliments and my DH got lots of "atta boys" from the men there.  We've only been married ten months.    As to the ex g/f?   DH told me that she just stood there and stared at me, wringing her hands.    Hmmpf....
I wear skirts just above the knee.  I have stocky legs, and I always wear them with matching tights.   That's about as risque as I get, lol.  I have no boobs left, so don't show a cleavage, LOL.

Oh, Julie!  That outfit sounds smashing and I'm sure you were the talk of the evening. I'd also wager that every man there was wishing he was your husband.

Y'all crack me up!! Im not quite there yet.. Im 34 but I hve issues too.

I feel it is ok to dress how you feel.
feel sort of torn. I love to look sexy for my husband.. but at the same I have  2 young daughters ages 4 and 5 and a son that is 7.. all with FAS and they naturally mimmick things.. GOOD or bad.. ( I could kill the person that came up with Save money, live better, Walmart.. slogan!! GRRR ) ..
Anyways..with my childrens birth parent history and the lifestyles that their birth mothers chose I dont want them to learn to dress ****ty or risque to get attention and I dont want for my son to expect that from women either. I remember my son's birth mom having a visit at the CPS office with him and she was still in her "uniform" after working at a strip club.. and I was just appauled...
So I walk a very thin line.  I feel young and pretty for the first time  in a VERY long time.. but I have  to know that 6 little eyes are watching me during waking hours.. So I save my sexy for date night  and in the bedroom where they dont see me.   kwim... ?
