No...wait...it isn't my goal.  But I just met the poster girl.

AT LEAST 60.  Blonde (with no dark roots, so probably all gray.)  I Dream of Jeannie ponytail.

These leggings:

Grey boots she said she got here...because all geriatric women should shop at "The Positive Place for Girls."

And other fun stuff...wow.  So now I DON'T want to go there.

I feel I dress a little younger than the average "almost 40 yr old", but a bit classier than a hoochie.  I think it's perfectly acceptable to show some collarbone and knee.  Anything mid-thigh or higher would be teetering on hoochie, and if you realize that your bra covers more than the average bikini anyway, then a lower shirt that covers the bra that covers the goodies completely is perfectly acceptable too.

You can see my legs came out pretty good.  Too bad the rest of me is a saggy mess.  I wish shorter skirts were acceptable for old bags with good legs!

I was just having this same conversation with a sales clerk at DIllards this past weekend.  Her advice to me was if it looks good -- wear it!  And she was our age.

Oh, I had this same argument with myself last week, and the Geriatric **** won. I was out with my brother and sister, walking around downtown for the Christmas Open House, and we went in to a very cool little (mostly) organic clothing store. There was an awesome short sweater dress on a mannequin and my brother showed it to me and said I really needed it to show off my new bod. I told him if I was 20 years younger, maybe (I'm 45). It only comes down to about mid-thigh, but it's long sleeved with a high neck. I could not stop thinking about that dress and several days later, I HAD to go back for it. Well, they were sold out of size Large, and I was so desperate for the dress by this time that I tried on the Medium, just in case. It actually fit, and didn't cling anywhere!! So now I have this awesome hoochie-mama dress hanging in my closet and haven't worked up the courage to actually wear it yet. LOL But I will rock it with some tight leggings and my new Born buckle boots!!

I think the test is how comfortable you feel in what you're wearing. If you feel like a cheap tart, you'll probably look like one. So just go with your instincts. If you put something on and feel like a million bucks, then you can totally pull it off!

I'm gonna be 54 next month and my 15yr old granddaughter is my fashion consultant. I have short dresses/skirts, lots of denim, low cut tops (with a very good bra), boots and tights/leggings. I wear only low rise jeans...they fit soooooo much better with the panni and belly flop. I also wear a tankini in the summer...get a better fit with 2pcs.

If it feels and looks good...DO IT!!!

I hope it's a style...I'm going to bummed to have to look like a "grownup" some day.

I loved this post. I went through a very similar dilemma. My first bold fashion statement was hilarious. Picture a short black skirt, black tights and lace up the front black biker boots, a pushup bra and massive cleavage. I still laugh at the ridiculous get up. I am 54 years old and 3 years out. My style did change dramatically when I reached the far side of my midlife crisis. Everybody was calling me a cougar, at first I thought of it was a compliment. My therapist told me I was going through a second teenybopper stage. Thank God I am now acting like an immature 20 year old……….tight jeans and cute jackets. One of these days I might figure out that I am middle-aged.
