I'm new to this forum....I am hoping for DS this summer...
Right now i am at the starting phase of the program at ADK Medical Center in Saranac Lake, NY w/ Dr. Michael Hill.
I did the required information session.
I had my first appointment with Karen.
Now on Monday the 4th i go back for my "bundle" appointment. I get all the labs, xrays, GB u/s, pulmonary function, PT eval and of course  another weigh in.
My insurance (cigna) requires the 6 months of follow up before they will approve so if all goes according to plan the office with submit for approval in May.
I have a sleep study scheduled for Jan 13th, i'm nervous about that because i just don't see myself being able to sleep hooked up to a bunch of wires and in a strange bed, but we'll see.
I also have my mental health eval. scheduled for later this month too.

I've been surfing around this forum for a few weeks now, gathering all kinds of great information, and I thought it was about time i posted an introduction.

Welcome Sarah! It's always nice to have another Sarah around here! :) I'm a sleep tech, so regarding your sleep study, don't sweat it too much. It is an odd experience, but most people are able to fall asleep without too much difficulty (probably about as easily/well as you would sleep at a hotel the first ngiht).

Hi good luck with everything. It may seem like it is taking forever but it is worth it and you'll be glad you did it.

Hello Sarah!

I am 17 days post op from my DS with Dr Hill at AMC!!  You are in GREAT hands!  I started the program in June and had my surgery on 12/17.  My insurance did not have the 6 month requirement so I was able to get in a bit faster than you will, but the time will fly.  I will be happy to answer any questions you have about Dr Hill, AMC, or the program.  Feel free to send me a personal message or post here.  It's always nice to "meet" others who have had or will have had the same hospital and surgeon.

For whatever it is worth, at 17 days post op, I feel really quite good, have taken nothing for pain (even Tylenol) in over a week and a half, and am already into smaller clothes!

Talk to you soon!  Happy New Year!

Best,
~ Lois~
