Today is my bday (28 yrs old how the HELL did that happen so fast????) and it has quickly become the worst birthday ever although I guess I could be worse. The whole way home from the relatives i have a kidney stone and finally find an urgent care. They gave me just enough meds to get me home and told me to follow up with my PCP, so I did. Went in first thing this morning. Got the meds and go to pick them up....they won't give them to me because i got some yesterday from Urgent Care. They gave me 6 pills to last me just until my appointment today. Those are now gone (24+ hours later now) I did what Urgent Care said but I guess that wasn't what I should have done as now I am finally home but still in pain and can't get my meds.Anyway came home at 1am from seeing relatives out of state to find my house at 48 degrees....heater broken! That is a nice bill let me tell ya! But at least it is fixed now. Ok whining over. Ready for this bday to be OVER!

aww   Sorry your birthday sucked!  Have you tried calling your insurance and telling them what the ugent care told you?  I've had to do that before when I pulled a back muscle around Thanksgiving and needed a refill "too early" because the pharmacy was going to be closed!  I hope that you start feeling better and that the heater works really, really well from now on!

And wishing you the best birthday wishes and hope the days gets better for you!

My insurance is 2 hours ahead of me so they are long closed but trust me I thought about calling them! I even talked to the Pharmacist about it last night when I picked up the 6 pills. Told him the whole deal and he told me if wouldn't be a problem etc. Of course it is a big problem. I will prob just end up toughing it out and stop wasting my time with the pharmacy, been at this all afternoon

Darn!  Hopefully it will pass soon.  If not, I would call the insurance tomorrow morning and if that didn't work I would call my doctor back!  There has to be something they can do for you!

Well just called the pharmacy and the nurse never bothered to tell the doc or call them back! Go figure. (had she told the doctor he would have personally called me at home I know for a fact) I will be calling the doctor myself tomorrow to tell him how great his nurse is (this is NOT the first problem I have had with her but it WILL be my last!) Luckily the oncall told me she would take care of it. I told her I was very clear with the doctor where I had been (urgent care) what they had given me, how much etc and what time i picked it up so it is clear I followed the directions etc. So she promised to take care of it, guess we will see shortly. I told her I would wait till tomorrow if I had to but it upsets me that I was upfront and honest about where I had been and what I had gotten etc and this happens. I do understand Walgreens hesitation and understand they are just doing their job. I'm sure it looks bad to have the same med picked up twice on the same day (the 6 pills were picked up at 12:15 am from the only 24 hour pharmacy we could find on the way home) prescriped from 2 different doctors but I was out of state visiting grandparents that are dying when this happened! Ok vent over...for now lol

You have my sympathy!  I have recent first-hand experience with kidney stones and they were far worse than childbirth (and my kids were born natural with no meds at all!)  After being in severe pain for two days I ended up in the ED two nights in a row in excruciating pain, the urologist's office the day after that and finally ended up with a stint.

Go to the ED if you are still in a lot of pain and insist they help you, then get thee to a good urologist as an emergency appointment in the AM!  There is no need to suffer so.

Happy birthday, good luck and feel better soon!

P.S.  You can also hope that lazy-a** nurse has her own round of kidney stones some day!

Wow, that's pretty freakin crappy.  I broke up with my boyfriend tonight & was feeling rather sorry for myself.  Thanks for putting it in perspective - I have my health & it didn't cost me a dime to drop him!  I hope all goes A LOT better for you VERY soon!!!

Sorry you had to suffer that god aweful pain!!! I've seen grown men cry over a kidney stone. EXTREMELY PAINFUL! That nurse should be fired. How do you forget to tell the Dr. about a medical EMERGENCY?!   Hopefully you have gotten some relief today. Sorry this all went down on your B-day!
