Hey guys!

Made a new vlog last night on YouTube about low carbing after the DS.  There's a few more things that I wanted to say and didn't, but I don't know how to edit anything so I'm just going to leave it as it is.  It's a little bit of a rant, and I know there are people who will disagree with my opinion, but I've been a little shocked about the growing number of post-ops who think they don't have to change their diet post surgery to lose weight.  Such as the woman who came here yesterday saying her DS "failed" her.  (You know, the one that got the surgery so she wouldn't have to diet?)  Please keep in mind that it's just my opinion, but it's something I've been wanting to get off of my chest for quite some time now.

Here's the link...

 Hi Lori,
I'm a youtube dork.  When I clicked on the link it brought me to a generic page where I had to type in what video to watch.  Any help?  I want to see.  Thanks!

It's great info and something all DS'ers need to know. Thank you for taking the time and effort to do this and to get the message out there.

You're killing me with the halter tops. Isn't it like 13 degrees there? It's dipped down in the 20's here in Florida and I'm sitting around in 2 sweatshirts and 3 pairs of socks...LOL My heater won't shut off!

Ha ha!  Yeah, I am guilty of wearing summer clothes through the winter.  I always have a sweater or sweatshirt nearby, and our home is a balmy 70 degrees so no issue inside!  Lol!  I was going out to the bars last night and I *always* have to wear a tank type shirt when I go out because I get hot dancing and what-not.  No worries, my sweater and coat were along for the ride last night too, as it was ONE degree overnight.  Brrrr!!!  I hafta say that since getting my iron infusions that I'm not NEARLY as cold as I was last winter!

Well, you look fabulous as usual and you would in a paper bag.

I am still working on bringing my iron up. My first infusion didn't do it and I had my second one Friday. I think the low iron is contributing to me being cold plus these temperatures are way out of the norm for us here. I love the summer and can't wait to be in halters!

My hemo did the all day Infed infusion for me.  My ferritin went from 5 up to 152!!  I couldn't believe it!  I don't know where we want our ferritin levels to be, but I'd say that's a DRASTIC improvement!  It was an 8 hour procedure that I will be happy to do again.  What kind of infusions did you get?

I think mine was Dextran which is the same as InFed but mine is not the huge bag which probably takes the 8 hours. My bag has been a smaller dose and it takes me about 2 hours. I am my hematologists only DS patient so we're working through this together. I don't think he fully understand the amount of my malabsorption but he's willing to learn as we go. He's going to retest my labs in a month and see where I am. I may end up needing the larger dose.
