New YouTube blog....Why I think eating low carb after the DS is so important...link fixed
Hi Lori ! Good vidio !
Just FYI, As long as I have been on this board, all I got frou you vets, was you "have " to low carb till goal !!
All of you have done wonderful, but then I continued to read old posts, do my bookmarking, ect...
So all the veterns on the board as a general, still are saying that we need to low carb as new post ops.
Like you I have seen where some are not really paying attention and saying they can eat anything they want,,,,,,like you don't know where that comes from...
But this gal, got the message, LOL
The only thing I deal with is , it may take longer for me as I am a revision, but I understand that
Thanks again !!!

Lori,
Great video!
I was on a low carb diet for many years (Dr. Eates diet) I loved it! I was very successful with lossing weight on Optifast (protein diet) BUT I knew I couldn't maintain the weight loss ....as I always gained the weight back because I started going back to old habits. CHIPS.
WLS.... Is a big deal. I have issues with carbs but I'm convinced this is a GREAT thing..... I don't want to fail ME by allowing everyday to have simple carbs. I do have popcorn and chips. I can live without the other simple carbs. I only allow it 5 times a month.
The carbs I choose to eat are the better ones complex carbs(veggies and fruit) . I still get gas!
I'm 40 pounds away from being at normal bmi and 60 pounds from being at surgeons goal. All this is such a short time (8 months). Low carb for the first year and the results will show.
I knew that I had to change my eating habits if I wanted to be a full success. I did have DS because it is less forgiving when you reach GOAL (like you said). It is easier to manage 5 pounds then 40-60 pounds. You have to change the way you do things if you want different results. Eating high carbs got us FAT and will continue to be an issue.
Thanks for posting. I'm following the rules and losing weight (10-13 pounds a month)

Just what I needed to hear!!! Thanks Lori!!!
I know for me, when I had my surgery in Sept '08, I was losing like crazy withou****ching my carbs, and thought "wow, this is awesome I can eat "whatever" I want and still lose". That thinking has caught up to me!! I have been stuck for the last several months without losing and I still have 30 pounds to lose. I am now 16months out, and I am afraid that my "window" is just about up. But the good thing is I have recognized my problem and will go from here!
Thanks again Lori! I knew what my problem was, but actually hearing and seeing it being said has opened my eyes more!

Tonya,
Glad it helped honey! I think it'd be great for you to talk about your story here on the boards and tell people what you just told me in a new thread.. People should know that you eventually have to do something to get the last pounds off. For some it will be more than just 30 pounds unfortunately.
THanks for letting me know!
Lori
BTW, u look amaazing!!!!

Great job Lori! You look so fantastic. We can only help those who want help. I don't feel the DS is a diet. I eat lots of meat! I had the perfect cheeseburger yesterday. Sacramento has this place called the Squeeze Inn. It's a very small burger place. Stand in line for 30-50min, order and it takes another 30-45min to get your order. But, the best is that the cheese burger has this crunchy cheese skirt surrounding the burger, So I got mine plain which I meant no bun, no veggies, came with the bun, when they took it off, I lost my melted cheese from the top
still had the cheese skirt - so ate it w/fork and knife. I did get another one to go and had that today... oh so much more cheese, so yummy... Last night for a late dinner after a play I had eggs benedict, ate 1, brought the other home, had that this morning did give the soggy english muffin and most of the potatoes to the puppies. If I eat and I'm still hungry, I go and get more protein. This isn't rocket science.
